You want inspiring? Go drive a 981 Spyder.

Smart ForTwo

Safer than the forklift on the street.

Not a bad option, but I'm not sure it's faster than the forklift.

Let's see - 2 inspirations. In college (late 60s-early70s) had a Corvair and I wanted to see how the other 6-cyl. air cooled car performed. Towards that purpose I got a ride from my brother-in-law in his 1967 911S. It was quick! Bought a 1976 911 in 1982 and pretty much since then have always had one. Have a little bit of a glut right now.

My best friend bought a 69 E in the early 80's and it was a revelation. I was blown away by the efficiency and beauty of the engineering. And the Bauhaus beauty of the car. It made me research and strive and search for a decade to buy my 1970 S. What a great car that was.

Default Riverside 500

Meeting Dan Gurney at the Inagural Riverside 500. Read all about him after that and closely followed his career. Led me to watch Le Mans ( thanks ABC) and from then on I've wanted a Porsche.

We wanted a true sports car and it checked one more item off of my wife's bucket list.

BMW doesn't make good sports cars anymore, E46 M3 is the legend.

Default Home Stretch...

Worked my butt off all my life. Entering the home stretch I had cash but never a truly first class ride. On a whim, I strolled into a Porsche dealership - test drove a 991.1 Carrera S and that's all she wrote...

Damn, I wish I would have done it sooner!

My childhood neighbor and soccer coach bought a red 944 when I was 9. He gave me a ride around the neighborhood the day he purchased it and I was instantly hooked. That was 30 years ago. With 3 kids it's not practical but man do they love it when I pick them up from school in the GTS with the top down. I don't mean to sound like a materialistic ***** but it really has brought a lot of fun into our families lives. I just wish it had 3 seats in the back so the whole family could enjoy it at the same time.

Ha! My butt dyno says the same. Test drove an E46, E90, and the new F80. Of them all, the E46 was the most engaging!
We do have 2 BMWs in the family, which we are keeping but the GTS we just picked up will be a whole different ball game
