35hp+ Cobb Accessport V3- 3.4L Carrera 991 +PDK +Sport Chrono
*This review is for anyone who is on the fence about adding a Cobb Accessport V3 to their 991.*
I own a 3.4L Carrera 991 +PDK +Sport Chrono. I have the Cobb Accessport V3 and run the Stage 1 map with the only other mod being a Sharkwerks Carrera Sport Exhaust (x-pipe) and MSS 245/305 tires.
This combo of mods has completely awoken the car. Gone is the sleepiness in normal mode. Normal mode now feels like it's almost sport mode and sport feels like it's almost sport+ (minus the aggressive first gear redline shift) and sport+ has the car jumping out of my hands. On twisty mountain roads sport+ is almost too aggressive.
This is not just a seat of the pants, "i think i can feel it" mod. There is absolutely no mistaking a Stage 1 map to a Stage 0 (stock map). Stage 1 makes more power everywhere and it's more responsive everywhere. Just more more more. Straight line performance gains are SIGNIFICANT as well. Almost 1/2 second drop in the 0-60 time (4.54 to 4.12) and I am well within striking distance of getting into the 11s in the 1/4 mile (12.09) with a trap speed of 116.2mph (8 mph higher than stock). And on my fav curvy roads where I would never have enough room to make it to 3rd gear, I'm now easily getting into 3rd (only to downshift to 2nd again, but it illustrates the point).
Attached are the before and after runs using the Dynolicious (an extremely accurate iOS app). Conditions were Nighttime, 65 degree F weather, warm (not hot) tires, dry and at sea level. The "before" run is the Stage 0 (stock map) and after run the Stage 1 map. No other changes were made to the car. Car had a full tank of gas. No cargo. No passenger and I used 3450 lbs for the car weight (including me and the gas). These are back to back runs. The entire setup (minus tires) cost me under $2500. Not saying other tuners can't do the same for you, but this is how I setup my car and the gains are real, measurable and awakened my 911's aggressive side while maintaining daily drivable manners and a civilized sound (doesn't draw attention) under 2000 RPM and no drone on the highway. Yet, she will scream like a Le Mans car if you open her up. Exactly what I was looking for, Dr Jekyll and Mr. Hyde. I especially love I can change the map back to stock on my own in minutes, and the extensive data logging features of the AP V3.
Some hunting online and found some HP calculators. The output numbers are shockingly strong. They all estimate about 385HP at the crank. That is +35HP for $2500 (Accessport and Sharkwerks x-pipe). This all aligns with Dynolicious' rear wheel HP est numbers of 303 HP before the flash and 331 HP with Stage 1 map.
HP = Weight/(ET/5.825)^3
385.858 = 3450/(12.09/5.825)^3
Regardless of any overly aggressive parasitic & drivetrain loss estimations these calculators often make, the bang for the buck is really good considering how little I modified the car. Go Porsche!
FYI, I am a private individual, have no affiliation to any tuner and simply love my "baby" carrera. Enjoy...

Your increase is more than what Cobb is publishing in their dyno for a 3.4L w/ Stage 1. They got +18hp on 93 octane. Is the x-pipe suppose to give you gains too? I'm glad you're liking your tune and thanks for posting.
I know this is significantly more than Cobb says for a Stage 1, but GPS and Accelerometers don't lie. Alex at Shark Werks says the Shark Werks 991 Carrera Sport Exhaust is good for 5-10hp and a weight savings of 7 lbs.
thanks for the kind words mate and nice gains! I'm not too surprised the exhaust does flow better without those 90 degree u-bends and even on the 997.2 with a similar design we were seeing about 12rwhp on our car Nicely done

Porsche Modder Royalty! Anytime Alex and thanks for making a great xpipe, incredible part at a very reasonable price.
Thanks Jared. FYI my Accessport V3 came with maps labeled v102 but I see only maps labeled v101 on the website. Could that have anything to do with my unexpectedly good results?
Great gains! Looking forward to installing my Cobb. Are cars that are having this put on them still under warranty? I don't want to reopen the whole warranty/mods debate - just curious what people are doing.

thanks, like i said regardless of what the dyno reveals next month in terms of RWHP, the car is measurably faster everywhere. i am super happy with the results.
the word on warranty is (from the street), if you unmarry the Cobb APv3 before you go in for service the dealer won't know it was there. but if the factory really wanted to determine if you modded the ECU (say for a warranty issue) they could determine it with some deep looking. that is all i could find on the internets... i took the risk as it was only an ECU flash and no other mods. car is build like a tank.
