Took a few days of R&R at the Greenbrier Resort in West VA. Instead of taking the interstate all of the way, I elected to take Rt 60 from Richmond to Lexington. Two lane road with a speed limit of 55. The last 20 to 30 miles was a welcome surprise with a bunch of banked switchbacks through the Blue Ridge. Great driving the 7M in second and third gears through the switchbacks.

All I can say about our stay at the Greenbrier, WOW!!!

Looking forward to a return visit.

"Taco Tuesday" run to Malibu with a stop at Pepperdine University for a viewing of the 9/11 flags display. Pretty inspiring...one flag for each person killed in the Sep.11th attacks.

Hello,

Took my furry friend along for a drive yesterday. Left Charlotte, NC, and headed west up towards the Little Switzerland area. Other than running into a light rain shower approaching the mountains it was a gorgeous day.

Drove up on 226A and stopped for lunch at the Switzerland Cafe. Great view and about 20 degrees cooler than Charlotte. After lunch hit the Blue Ridge Parkway towards the south, where the picture was taken, and got off on SH 80 back towards Charlotte.

My wife and I just moved to Charlotte from the southwest Florida area and this was the first time since moving that I've had the opportunity to take the Porsche up into the mountains. It sure will not be the last time. The car felt totally at home on these twisty roads.

My latest mods were IPD Plenum, Fabspeed Sport Headers and BMC air filters with a Fabspeed Protune. All mod ideas I got from reading posts on this great Forum. Thank you all.
Driving up the twisty roads with the sport exhaust turned on the sound was awesome.
I highly recommend this setup for anybody with a NA engine.

Next time I'll be heading over to drive the Cherohala Skyway and the Dragon. Done both on my motorcycle but looking forward to enjoying them driving my Porsche.

Definitely moved to a great area to enjoy my toys.

Henrik

Little S. loop is great, 80 is greater, guess you enjoyed it. The farther west you go on the BRP, the better it gets. Go up Mt Mitchell , when you get past Asheville go up and down 151, go up and down 276 in both directions, The BRP elevations are best all the way to Cherokee.
When you go south toward the tail, be sure to turn west on 28 and go all the way to Deals Gap. Its really a great road.

Thank you okbarnett for the great suggestions. There are so many great roads around this area it's a little overwhelming. Especially having been used to the somewhat boring roads in SW Florida.

I see you live in the Tampa area, hope you did OK with Irma.

My wife and I used to live just south of Ft. Myers, five miles from the center of Irma's track. Moved 2 months ago....good timing for ones.

I decided to stop by my farm on the way back from Charlotte, love this place a lot as it's peaceful. This is where I plan to retire.

Just got back from Treffen Asheville. What a great time. We wanted to visit Asheville as we check out places for retirement. Wow. A little crowded but I can see why. The local chapter of PCA did a phenomenal job. I may post some pics in another thread, but here's a couple:

Host hotel was Omni Grove Park Inn. Very Arts and Crafts feel.

26 meter radio telescope at PARI. The drive up was "bendy".

On the PARI helipad.

Lining up for the drive to Tryon Equestrian Center. That place was enormous.
