Porsche would have to get a whole cluster from another car ???? if that does not make red flags go up, I don't know what would... :-)... IMO even Dodge would not do that...

Why not talk to your dealer if they would exchange the dial with another car in stock. It's a no cost option, they may do it for you as a service.

Hey Guys,

I found and ordered a Gauge Face Overlay from Sun Coast. Pretty simple procedure. It is a 3 to 4 week delivery (no big deal). Cost shipped was $341.15

Thank you all for the help and support.

I was starting to feel better about this now you are making me nervous again.

The shop came recommend by Porsche. They have been in business for years. There are three technicians at the shop. All with more that 20 years experience. I will research them further. At least I have a black gauge face coming my way.

Good call on letting a shop do it.

Way back when, on my first car forum, there were guys that would try to replace the gauges themselves and pretty much every time it resulted in stuck or broken needles, screwed up MPHs, etc. And those were just Acuras.

I guess I'm the only one who prefers the silver, it sorta matches the color of my car
Everyone I know with a 911 hates it.

I have a black C2S and it has the silver tach...I would have preferred all black gauges but to be honest I never notice it or think about it any more...

Before ordering my car I searched Rennlist for comments on each option on the configurator. There is a wealth of information and good and bad comments on virtually every possible option. I would not have been aware of either the "all black dials" or the "smoking package" that really cleans up the console with the smooth cover without this list. One comment on the silver tachometer face said it was difficult to see in the daylight. I also read every comment on PDCC before including it on my order. With enough comments it becomes obvious whether a certain option was something I wanted or did not need.
I was at the Fresno dealership today and sat in a black exterior/black interior 991.2S coupe. The tachometer seemed gray and appeared faded looking, and the car was inside the showroom. I had worried that I had given up something that made my S special . . . I am very happy with my black face tachometer now.
I spent months using this list before ordering my car. I have had no buyer's remorse at all on my options selections . . . except for running the price up to $125,000 including sunroof delete discount. This list can be dangerous to the pocketbook.

And this right here is why I am already shopping / configuring for a car I hope to order around 3/17-5/17.
