Default "Primer" Look - Am I Too Old School

We are in central Berlin and spotted a primer look GTS cab. Great looking car with a duck tail, but....the paint/wrap finish is a major turn off. Am I not welcoming enough of new look options?

The primer look (or matte finishes in general) can look good on certain cars like an Aventador. But I agree, on a 991 it looks terrible.

I agree. Looks stupid. 911s have gentle smooth curves which make reflections look great... matte finishes only make (marginal) sense on flat-surface angular designs.

Not my style but it really doesn't look bad.

I could actually see this look taken a few steps further with more military theme decals.

Black cues on a primer look can easily feel heavy handed. The wheels are fine but the top throws it all off balance IMHO.

Some of the matte finishes I've seen look pretty good (maybe just for other cars? maybe ok for 911?) but I think I would really have a hard time with matte gray in particular on ANY car...

Terrible parking job. Great way to muck up your front bumper.

I think the matte look can be nice on darker colors. Not crazy about the way it comes off on this car.

Matte has been popular for at least the last 10 years so i wouldn't really call it a new trend and to be fair that pic isn't really a good example. I really like matte when done right.

Personally, I love matte finish on most cars. Some of the frozen BMW colors (not bronze) and the matte MB colors look great IMHO. BMW dealers that I've spoken to however strongly try to dissuade customers from purchasing matte paint. Supposedly a huge PITA to maintain. I don't know much about the wraps.

I drove my first car around for a year in grey rattle can primer before I could afford to paint it. I was so ahead of my time!

Is that Sapphire Blue under the wrap?

Looks like a "matte wrap". Anyway, it looks better than any of those Velvet wraps I have seen.
