NA vs TURBO SOUND

I think I will wait until I can hear the new cars in person before I decide on the sound, but will be surprised if the new turbo engines sound as good as my 991.1 GTS. Really hard to tell from a video that might be "enhanced".

Of course the 991.2 won't sound the same as your 991.1 GTS. It is deeper in tone and has less of the flat 6 wail as it climbs in revs. But it still sounds damn good, very clearly a 911 and not reduced to a whoosh like a 991.1 3.8 Turbo at all. I had lots of listening time at Rennsport 5, where both PSE and non PSE 991.2s circulated, and would not be put off buying one due to the difference.
Chances are real good that your GTS and my C2S sound the same from outside of the car. X-51 cars - which is what you have, make a sweeter induction sound at high revs due to the different heads, valves and induction system. My brief time in a friends car with a power kit clearly told the tale. It came in loud and clear through the symposer tube and along with the faster rush in revs, registered a larger wow for sure. I'm guessing that why there are now 2 symposer tubes piping induction sound to the interior. The experience is enhanced, not the sound.
That said, my C2S with PSE sounds nowhere as sonorous as my 08 RS-60 Boxster did with its high pitched wail, or as good to me as the GT4 with its mean deep bark, or a GT3 with its spine tingling howl.
Re squealing tires- if you don't hear street tires squealing in turns during road tests, that just means the car is not being driven near its limits. All non R rated street tires in Buicks, Porsches and Lambos do that, and even R rated tires do that when really pushed.

Not buying those sound clips. Most were overdubbed and anyone who's used a drone knows all the mics pick up are the prop motors. Who knows what sound was used. Best to wait and hear these cars in person.

I agree that in general, most cars sound better in person than on videos. The best most recent example I have is the new M4 : it sounds much better in person than on all of the videos I've seen. I still think the new AMG turbos are one of the best stock sounding engines I've heard.
I believe that the best and most popular mod people will do to the new 3.0 L turbos will be the exhaust. Tuners must be thrilled! Besides the fact that everyone knows how easy it is to get more power out of a Turbo engine in comparison with an NA engine,I believe tuners and fabricators will sell a lot more exhausts as well.
With all that said,Turbo engines will never sound as good as NA unfortunately. And as much as a Porsche Turbo has a good place in history,I have always preferred a good NA Porsche engine,so my GT4 might stick around for a while, perhaps even the GTS.

Sure, live would be better, but still an interesting audio experiment. Thought the front page would think so too...

mmmm.....yep , the NA cars sound much better then the new turbo charged cars... by miles... honestly.
mmmm....power! can we actually use those on the road? feel and sound are much more important in a sport car, that's why I bought my 964 after driving my GT4.
