Decided to do an oil change on my new to me .1 GTS

Great to see that Porsche Manhattan did an honest service (air filters)

BUT what an ordeal it turned out to be

The oil change itself went without a hitch , but ....

This is what I found when I was cleaning the oil drain pan

Lessons learned...

One, I didn't clean the oil drain plan before draining the oil, there was a layer of oil about 3-5mm deep

Two, forgot that I changed oil on son's car not long ago... His car, a 2010 Accord 4 Cyl, has a loud chain rattle at start up, which is a known timing chain guide issue.

These particles are 99.9% from his car.. but For Fks's Sake, my heart skipped a few beats

Your opinion will be confirmed for you when you get your Blackstone report back……just another good reason to always get a UOA!

Did some leatherique treatment on the driver seat as the entry side bolsters were too shiny and stiff. Worked like a charm,

Leatherique is awesome, been using it since 2004, someone suggested it for my E39 M5 and its been my Go-to brand for leather care.

ONE Word of CAUTION.. Leatherique has been prone to affect the glue used on Leather Dashes. I did not know this back in 2015 and used the Leatherique method ( oil up leather, let sit in sun to heat up, dirt rises to the surface ,clean with cleaner) to condition wife's Cayenne with Full Leather. Fast forward 2 yrs and leather started rising from places where it had been stretched to make a perfect fit/wrap over dash.
I still use it on seats, but do not use it on doors, dashes or anywhere leather has been bonded/glued.

I have tried Sonax Leather cleaner and conditioner foam, Porsche's own cleaner and conditioner combo, and many others over the past years.

I keep coming back to Porsche's own cleaner and conditioner for dashes and door cards. Sonax left some residue which was hard to remove and it still showed from certain angles.
I plan to use AMMO's leather cleaner and conditioner next and see what the hype is about

Full Griots garage detail kit including clay bar, two orbitals, creams, etc. Finished my first go at it this past weekend! Turned out pretty good but may try a more aggressive cream next time to get the last swirls out (started with the polish and sealant). All in all much better than it was.

looks great

I would strongly recommend ceramic coating a white car, my last GTS was white (non metallic) and the paint never dazzled me no matter how much work I put into it, until I ceramic coated the car. Even the DIY Avalon King product made a Huge difference.

In theory that should work. My take is that its the rejuvenator oil that soaks into the leather and causes problems. You do want to condition the oil occasionally as the cleaner will pull out all oils from leather ( I assume)

Love leatherique, what do you do in the colder months to heat it up? Run the car with the heater? Use a hair dryer?

Also, can you use it on the perforated / ventilated leather parts of the seat?

I applied on my 22c garage without any extra heating. Let it sit a day then reapplied dry areas, waited half a day and then took it al off for that look. Worked very well

Although, yesterday, I tried the same procedure on my '00 M Coupe and the results weren't as impressive.
I believe old leather really needs the heat. Will give it another go when spring really hits and I'll park the car under the sun for better results.
