Had a chance to install my .1 GT3RS side skirts this weekend. Here’s a poor garage pic of how she looks. I’ll take her out for better pics in the future.
After some PCM mainboard related issues for the Android auto retrofit, went the MOST HUR route and installed a Pioneer head unit (DMH-W4660NEX). Needed to trim the bracket, but I think it came out pretty close to an OEM look aside from a Super faint "pioneer" logo.
Went with this unit since I felt the Pioneer head units with buttons were quite different in design from the Porsche buttons. Touch control only, no buttons.
Cut the back of my hands all over the place, but super happy with the outcome.

Amazing that you would tackle this! Seems like it's just not done so much anymore (on any new vehicle). Looks very nice!
I'd also be interested in what you lost after install.
Front right tire got torn up after third track day, less than 1k miles. Other three were fine. And while I was there, new water pump to replace the leaky one!

Best all-around street tire IMO but doesn't hold up well to track duty.
agree. Really need to buy some track wheels/tires. Any suggestions?
I've seen a lot of debate on the topic. I am not an expert but folks local to me seem to love RE71R's (what I just bought). Some like Sport Cup2 and I had good luck with R888R (the old set in my pic). I bought my second set of rims off of RL and there is another set for sale right now with the R888R's on them, if I recall correctly. Not a lightweight track rim but for an occasional track guy like me, it was the right price. Note the rims are for a 991.1, which are different than the 19's for the 991.2 (offsets are slightly different) but they work just fine.

For years, I tracked my BMW on street tires and it did teach me to be clean and not try to over drive the car (induce understeer), it was difficult to really push hard throughout the session as the tires would get greasy.
I then stepped into full blown R-comps (BFG R1). What a difference in terms of grip and feedback. They last pretty long too. Unfortunately, they don't make the sizes we would need for our 911's.
It looks like Toyo R888R or Hoosier R7 are the only choices for full-blown R-comps. I say, if you're going to go for a full track tire, go all the way. Like I said, they last longer than you think.
If you're looking to save a little bit of money, you might be able to find a used set of 19" stock wheels or 20" Carrera S wheels. They are relatively light weight.
I did see Tirerack had a couple of options for wheels that are pretty light weight and won't break the bank either (about $2500 for just the wheels).
What I would do, is get a nice set of aftermarket wheels that you really like and use those for the street and use your stock wheels for track wheels.

I would go with the Sport Cup 2s and not the RE71Rs. I run RE71Rs for autocross and they get slippery when hot which isn't very good for the track. I'm pretty sure they designed that tire with Autocross in mind.
