I'd say anything over 4 years is a bonus.

I'd say anything over 5 years is living on borrowed time.

I'd say read this thread for the BEST battery DIY thread on the 991 Forum:

A battery maintainer helps the longevity.

Interesting...My 2013 C2S battery going strong after almost 5 years. My 997.1 C2S battery lasted almost 7 years (and perhaps longer) till I sold my car.
I do use battery maintainer, but not religiously.

Mine was showing signs of getting sluggish at 4 years 4 months so I proactively changed it before the symptoms got too bad. Part of it has to do with the number of start/charge cycles... which kind of relates to miles. This car had 33,000 miles on it. (I ended up deciding to trade the car 1 month after spending the money on the new battery... duh!)

My car is a 2014 punched July 2014, and I was pondering proactively replacing my battery before next winter unless it starts showing signs earlier.

I have a early build 2013 w/79K miles on the clock.

Car still starts well but I've noticed in the last month or so the start-stop doesn't work anymore and see some higher voltage reading while driving.

I picked the battery up last night from Batteries Plus and haven't installed it yet.

This will give you a chuckle:
I zipped into the dealer and asked them about battery replacement and the service advisor looked at me like I had 2 heads. Replacement cost for an OEM battery installed runs $600.
He mentioned most folks don't buy replacements from the dealer except for some battery that comes in one of their hybrid models. No car programming required except if the start-stop feature stops working all together and if you replace the battery with a different type. Flooded vs AGM. Something about the charging profile.

All this talk about batteries. I got in and tried to start my car this morning and nothing! I turned the key twice more before I figured out I had the key to my wife’s car!

The biggest symptom for me of the battery starting to go was all the electronics flickering during the start sequence, and sometimes took slightly longer use of the starter before the engine would fire up.

I'm not discounting the fact that your battery is old (by age) but were there any other symptoms besides auto stop/start not engaging as frequently or the higher voltage reading? Aren't both conditions considered normal in the colder winter months? From the manual:

"The Auto Start Stop function is not available in the following situations, for example:
  • When Sport mode is activated.
  • When PSM is off. In Maneuvering mode.
  • When A/C MAX mode is activated.
  • When the "Windshield defrost" function is active.
  • At altitudes above approx. 9,843 ft. (3,000 meters).
  • After engaging a gear without actuating the clutch during automatic stopping of the engine.

The Auto Start Stop function is available with limited functionality in the following situations, for example:
  • If the air conditioning or passenger compartment heating is operated at a high setting or if the defrost function is run for long time periods.
  • If the battery charging condition is low. <- THIS COULD BE YOU
  • On upward or downward slopes.
  • During internal vehicle test procedures, e.g. automatic engine checks.
  • In the case of excessively low exterior or battery temperature."
Of course if this is the first winter you've observed this behavior, then disregard my post. See you at QDM either way!

I bought myself a Solar BA9 battery tester to keep tabs on all my batteries.

I've been monitoring the 911 battery for about a month.

Did anyone figure out the right shade of black to order from Lloyd’s? I got plain black for my rear shelf, and it’s a shade or two darker compared to the OEM carpets.

Autoanything shows "black" and "ebony". You have to click on "all colors" first, or else you are correct and only see "black" as a choice (along with other colors that aren't any shades of black). I'm guessing I should have ordered "ebony," since "black" seems too dark. But that's just a guess. I also noticed that if you want the Porsche logos, your only choice seems to be "black". So I guess if you want a matching piece, you can't have the Porsche logos.
