I have installed the set on my 2012 C2S and had to remove the door panels, took all in all 45 minutes.

I did find that it was not sitting as nicely on the door frame as the original, somehow(and its difficult to explain) top part is close to the frame while bottom is opened a bit. my feel is that the part that goes around the window seal is limiting it from being nice and snug.

pictures might show the problem, although lighting is bad

I wonder if anyone else saw the same thing

Please excuse my ignorance. Any engineers on here can tell me if installing these will ruin Porsche's wind tunnel tested Aerodymic at high speed (when windows are rolled up)?

Wind buffer is terrible on the 991 and I have the sport mirrors.

It should not. Aero is testing the vertical load on the car as well as the drag coefficient. The AWE diffuser has nothing to do with this. Aero is in terms of hundreds if not thousands of pounds of equivalent force.

The AWE wind diffuser is a small item that simply pushes the side load a little further past the window opening so doesn't load up the cabin. And a must have if you DE or like to drive at high speeds with the windows down and don't have a sunroof.

Thanks for the explanation, Jay.

I'm happy to report that I installed both sides today and the whole installation took only about 25 minutes. Fifteen minutes for the first door and 10 minutes for the second. Very easy and does not require the door panel to be removed. I also did not disconnect the airbags, but I did disconnect the battery power. For the screw that holds the triangular window part being replaced, I just used a T20 Torx bit on my 1/4 inch ratchet and the install can be done without door removal. It's very easy.

They look great / factory and I am happy.
Interesting...tell me how you did it without removing the doors in more detail. I really want to do mine but I have the old set up and do not want to get involved in a "project" if door removal is that involved. But with some more details on how you did it I could be persuaded.

Finally got a link opened and answered my own question.
Anyone know if this would work? I mean seems a bit simpler than removing the doors if just access to the screw is what is needed to proceed with the simpler install. Anything from AWE? Anyone tried this?

The screws are in somewhat different locations on the two cars. That is why the kit ships with two different sets of the little arms, on is used for one version and points in one direction, the other for the later version and orients differently. I'm pretty certain the early model screw is down just below the top edge of the door panel.

It isn't very difficult though. My son and I did this install together. It helps to have two people since that allows a shortcut, as I'll describe below. To do this, you need one person to hold the door panel and the other to do all of the tool work.

My early 2014 car required the earlier version install, but we took some shortcuts from that in the instructions. While we did unplug the airbag (that clip is nice and easy), we did not disconnect the electrical to the door panel itself nor did we disconnect the door handle pull as the instructions recommend. Instead, after removing the 4 door Torx bolts and lifting the door panel up a little to unhook its tabs and back just a couple of inches (it has downward facing rubber-lined hooks of a sort), I was able to tilt the front edge of the door panel down just a little while my son accessed the screw holding the outside panel and replaced the panel with the Awe one.

As mentioned by someone earlier, the first door took maybe 15-20 minutes due to being cautious, the second door was probably done in half of that time. I'm sure it was less than a half hour total.

It really is pretty simple, especially if you don't disconnect any connector other than the airbag one and its latch is easy as can be.

So just to summarize this method with the small shortcut:
- Remove the door trim pieces as per the Awe instructions
- Disconnect the air bag connector
- Remove 4 Torx screws
- Lift the door panel up and away a little, tilt it down enough to access the screw.
- Swap out the triangular trim piece
- Reverse the steps.

This skips the electrical disconnects mentioned in the official instructions for the early model mentioned in step 9 and all of step 10, the door pull disconnect. Here are the instructions for the early door on the Awe site: https://www.awe-tuning.com/media/pdf...Foiler_1.4.pdf

Just installed on 2016 Cayman GTS. Interestingly, the driver side fit well, whereas the passenger side part did not fit at all.

Driver side

It seems like the bottom edge of the passenger side interferes with the window frame and it is not possible (at least for me) to get a tight fit.

So I put original and better quality part back.

Passenger side, original part

I have to be honest, it has been some time since I did this, but if I recall it was removing the surround for the door handle which allowed me to get to the mounting screw for the little inside triangle. I loosened that, and they was able to remove the outer stock triangle. The connection for the airbag is behind the plastic section in front of the interior door handle. No need to disconnect.
What I really did was follow the directions provided, and it became clear that you could wiggle some parts to avoid removal.

Maybe I'm over simplifying it, but it looks like the surface pointing the rear should be pointing down touching the door molding.

Do Cab owners have a need for these? I don't seem to have the buffeting issue with my car.

Wasn't the price supposed to be $50? (I went to their web site and it shows $75)
