But the standard C2s (not X51) smoked it! What is the point?

I'm not sure I agree that it'd be cheaper sell your car and find one with a factory X51 once you take into account the tax hit plus the difference between what a dealer buys a car for and what it sells it for, plus the difficulty of getting the exact spec you want which you may not be able to find offered for a good price. X51 cars tend to be rarer, and even if the powerkit doesn't add that much to the resale, it is more likely to be a more heavily optioned car in other areas.
I say drive an X51 car, if you like it, buy the kit. It's going to be a lot more expensive to change your mind once you hit 25k.

Also, another note. Given where the power gains are in the power curve, it's most appreciated in situations where you can really run the car out, like on a track. If you track your car regularly, it is an upgrade you would probably appreciate a lot more.

The graph is well publicized but that 25k mile crank bearing & connecting rod bearing issue is not! Here it is from the Porsche X51 install guide. I have 6k miles on the clock before 25k but the kit is available for a discount now! And there are only 6 left in Germany (supposedly)

I would go for it. Considering that its all over for the NA motors. it would be great to have the most powerful NA motor available on the last hora. 30 NA hp is so hard to come by for NA motors.
This is a hard decision based on demographics though. If you lived in Europe for example. I wouldn't give it a second thought. Here in the states the dam laws have you tied down on a leach. It really doesnt matter whether your driving a honda or porsche for that matter. The land of the free is no longer. So if you plan to track it than go for it. On the road you will never justify the expenditure. Unless your reckless and don't care about the sticklers surrounding your environment.

It sounds like you are going to do it. At this point my only recommendation would be to let the dealer install it instead of your mechanic friend. This way you will keep your warranty intact.
