X51 install decision

I did a powerkit on my 993 C2S years ago ... my experience was not typical, and was distinctly negative (so keep that in mind)
I personally would not really recommend doing a retrofit, its expensive, and if anything goes wrong its expensive to resolve, and when/if you sell the car you will recover $0 at best, and when you disclose
that you have done this, some potential buyers will walk...
my advice, find a car with a factory X51 or enjoy your current car.
having done this once, I would never do it again, there are simpler and less costly ways to get more
power, sell your current car and buy one with more power.

Remember that part in Bohemian Rhapsody when it goes 'No!No!No!No!No!No!No!'?
That should be playing in your head right now. It's competing in mine with the thought of trading out my CS and $50k for a GT4... I just wish one of the voices would stop. Doesn't matter which.

No way in hell sounds like my wife again (no disrespect meant)! Thanks for your input and perspective. I actually have not driven a 991 GTS, only the 997.2 GTS and my '07. They were also very subtle. I'm glad I asked here on RL for input. Now if Lexvan will finish (me/this) off with his "don't do it" input, I will rest roflmao.

Geez if the X51 could be had AND installed for like $8-9K it would be tempting!!
I guess the "break point" is this issue? My Indy mechanic would charge less than half @$3150 (35 hours X $90/hr) but he and I agree that Porsche probably would not warrant it if he did it. The details in the installation guide for it are really amazing and full of interesting things. I know guys talk about break in considerations and I'm not sure Porsche publishes anything but they do for this X51 retro install. First 500 miles the engine speed can not exceed 5k rpm. Also, the plugs get changed and are different than the base S engine. I have obviously invested time into this consideration but that is it so far. Leaning towards all the answers above: not one RLer said "do it"!

Seems like the "implied" reason for about 90% of those above too, which I understand but I also know that a few lucky souls "ticked the X51 box" when they ordered a new 991! I could never afford to do that but to get the car preowned for 65% of the msrp and 13k miles, this add-on doesn't seem so crazy any more! Bad logic? Maybe!
