Default De-badging - bad idea on 2 year old car?

My car is garage kept at all times, so I think paint fade is minimal.

It will be fine. Do not use heat gun. Will soften clear coat and possibly pull it up. Nylon fishing line and some 90% isopropyl to remove sticky stuff after rubbing off with fingers first.

No paint fade concerns.

Or doubled dental floss--it's easier on the paint. After cleaning off the glue a little polish to the paint will finish the job.

I've been meaning to do this myself, only I want to replace my

P O R S C H E
911 Carrera GTS

with

P O R S C H E
911 GTS

Does this mean ordering new "911 GTS" letters and doing it myself? Or do I have to have a bodyshop do it? Is it still peel and stick like previous gens? Is there a template or anything on how to center the new letters?

Thanks!

This is one thing I've considered with our badges. If you end up doing this, take a few pictures and show us how it looks!

I think the issue amy be the difference in color shades. The uncovered part is slightly faded due to time.

You mean kind of like this? (notice the '911' is gone)

You make your own templates like this:

You can re-use your existing emblems if you are careful, clean the old sticky off and them apply new with this:

Amazon.com: 3M 08061 Plastic and Emblem Adhesive Tube - 5 oz.: Automotive Amazon.com: 3M 08061 Plastic and Emblem Adhesive Tube - 5 oz.: Automotive

The key is to tape your template on the car exactly where you want it, make sure the area is clean and then stick away....

Super! Thanks for the tips, especially on reusing the emblems. It seemed silly to replace them (they're probably $699/letter or something), but I also didn't want to use some adhesive that ruins the paint.

^^ Okay, so $42 + $39 + shipping to get new black 911 and GTS. I think I'll take the old ones off (I've already Amazon-Primed the adhesive for 12 bucks) and if I don't break them try sticking them back on. I'll make a template from the existing 911 and GTS before I remove them; then it's just a matter of making sure the two elements are properly positioned relative to each other and to the P O R S C H E above them.

But thanks for posting the link -- if I damage anything taking them off I'll have to order a new set.

Does anyone know what the PORSCHE emblem looks like when you order from Suncoast? Is it just the individual letters that you have to align and space yourself or does it come with some kind of guide to maintain the factory spacing and width? Thinking of just having the PORSCHE but want it centered in the panel (so a little lower down than the stock position)
