Default Oh no!!!

Last week, I picked up my 13 C4S from Danbury and drove it home on summer tires. She's been in the garage waiting for the new winter set to be delivered. So today I was all set to swap out the set. I proceeded to take off the first wheel and was putting on the winter wheel and all the lug nuts without issues. Then, I had to put on the locking bolt. Apparently, the key for the lock does not fit in the lug nut well! So now I'm stuck. I guess I can put on regular 19mm lug nuts, but the chance of finding[I]extendedI[/] ones on New Years day is remote. What are my options? Thanks!

Get a can of Freon,
spray it for 60 sec tap in middle with a driver. Old trick.
Either that or a dealer would have a key.

I probably didn't explain it well. I have the key. The problem is that the key does not physically fit in the lug nut well. I have 19" sport cup rims and the wells are smaller than my 20"Sport design wheels. The hey fit in fine with those.

So, the way I read your post is that your locking bolt can't be torqued down due to the diameter of the bolt key preventing you from doing so on the wheel set you are installing? Honestly I can't imagine what you would expect members of this board to suggest- quite simply you need a wheel bolt that will "fit" whether locking or not. And as it is New Year's Day it's doubtful you will be able to get a single replacement bolt if nothing near you is open. Perhaps you can find a local 991 owner with a spare set? If nothing else I suggest putting the other wheel set back on and ordering replacement wheel bolt set.
Good luck!

Still don't really understand.

So, 4 bolts are on, and properly torqued to 118 ft.lbs.?

If so, you're fine to drive till you get the 5 bolt sorted on Monday.

NASCAR does this all the time.

Allow me to clarify. Hole for key nut to go in too small. He has the key.... doesn't fit in the hole to tighten.

You got it! It kind of freaks me out to do that. I guess i will wait to get a non-locking bolt. Thanks

Whoever sold the winter set up should be able to provide a set of security bolts w/key that will fit.

This is the wheel. The key that came with the car does not fit inside the bolt holes. I'll just get a new extended bolt next week. Just pissed bc I want to drive the car now!

Sorry guys. I kinda panicked but all is well. Went to pep boys and got 4 extra bolts that fit. No problems now. Can't wait to replace the Bose tweeters!
