Totally voluntary. I decided at 1000 based on comments from other threads on this board. When I went in the dealer made they made it very clear that it was not required to change that early. I wanted to do it just to be on the safe side, I guess I'm just used to doing it with BMW's that do actually recommend it. I remember that the SA referred to me as a 'purist' several times, but that could have also been because of my transmission choice, MT>PDK

Thanks for the company. I've now had the car 11 months and 1 week. I'm at 2300 miles.

And... Just today a message displayed which said I need to get my oil changed in 7700 miles or 21 days.
