I tried to hybrid this forum w the manual.... Under 4K for 1500 miles, oil change and now street driving over 4K but no autoX or DE events until 2000 miles.

In any event, always under 3k until engine oil up to temp. For that matter, no sport mode until up to temp either.

Sorry to burst your bubble but my wife has you beat. She has 700 miles in 5 months on her 2016. She literally follows everything by book. It's her car and she has other cars to drive so I can't say much. It's winter here in Colorado so the mileage is going to stay low. We do own a condo in Greyhawk so I might have the car shipped there to enjoy some driving time.

After I press start, I immediately press the sport button. Now I do keep it below 3k RPM until warmed up, but I don't hesitate with the sport button!

GTS arrived August 2015. 2700 miles. 99% of time in sport plus mode. WOT from day one. Redline frequently although I usually wait till oil temp is at 100 before redline. These cars don't need to be babied.

Many years ago my son worked summers at a local Porsche dealership. About a half mile from the dealership, there is an interstate which made for a nice area to test a car's acceleration. My son told me that virtually everyone who test drove 997s used the interstate and they certainly weren't limiting the revs to 4K. Most of the cars were sold with less than 60 miles on the odometer, but I expect that many of them had some range 1 over revs. So unless you custom ordered your car or if the car on the lot has less than 15 miles, don't be certain that Porsche's recommended break-in was followed before purchase.

Thanks for the comments... and I do plan on giving it 'some power' real soon. A minor point, though, the gauges are not white. They are Luxor Beige. They look white in the photo, but they're actually an off-white with a bit of tan color to them (to match the Luxor Beige deviated stitching.)

When I did Euro Delivery last year, I was told to take it easy for the first few hundred or so miles to be sure all is working as should. Then, enjoy! As long as engine warm, of course. Followed instructions, didn't baby it on Stelvio.

Yeah but those ~15 factory miles are on a track, at speeds! So does break-in really matter?

At the risk of turning this into another breakin thread...there is no need whatsoever to restrict RPMs during breakin of the motor. The miles threshold is solely related to liability, tire scrub in and getting used to the car. Once the car is warm, you can drive hard straight out of the box.

Holding off for 2000 miles. Its like having a 22 year old in a G string dancing in your bedroom. Sorry but I couldn't wait to hit the gas. I admire your patience.

So how many people went in and got an oil change at 2k miles?

I did the oil change at 1000. I kept by the book until about 1600 miles and then started going 500 rpm over 4200 rpm every 100 miles until I hit 2000. My approach was somewhat inspired by AP's speech at Rennsport 5.

When u say "the" oil change, you mean it was a scheduled one or a voluntary one just to flush it out on your own? I still only have 400 miles on it and haven't even been in it in a week.
