Rusting brake caliper bolts

I have a base 991 and the bolts on the brake calipers as well as the bleeders, etc. were rusting. Apparently you cannot replace just the bolts so Porsche agreed to replace the calipers as a goodwill gesture - they said it was not a warranty item. I spoke to a salesman and he told me he had seen it a number of times before and Porsche usually replaces them one time. I only use Sonax wheel cleaner from Germany on my wheels and I thought that it wouldn't harm the wheels, etc. I plan on brushing on a light coating of clear paint to protect the bolts from water and rusting. Anyone else experienced this and what have you done about it?

That's interesting.
Your bleeders screws not covered with little black rubber caps?
I have the C4S with red calipers, use the same wheel cleaning product and everything looks good. Even the large bolts holding the calipers on which I think are black anodized and rust free.
Any pictures?

I don't have photos since they have replaced them. There was no salt damage - I live in North Carolina and never driven in snow. Porsche said they cannot replace the bolts - have to replace entire caliper which they did. I had been in touch in Sonax and they were looking into it but I haven't heard back from them.

if, so they are part of the caliper and are actually pins, but can't be replaced. I don't see why they couldn't replace the mounting bolts if thats what was rusty, in fact, I think the manual says to replace them each time they come off.

I don't know how you will keep those from rusting on the new brakes. its raw metal. the yellow ones are a set I powdercoated for a customer, not stock. I just used it for illustration.
