I might be wrong, but I think this is what the goal is.

Basically it's still the same chassis, and i wouldn't want to have to read yet another forum for the same chassis info and same basic set of enthusiasts' posts. Yes the turbo engine is significantly different, but it would be interesting to hear about how things go or develop with it. 991 is already split among 911s, GT3s and Turbos. To me, that's enough differentiation without going to 991.2. If we do, does that mean we go to 991.2 GT3 and 991.2 Turbo, also as separate?

From a marketing perspective (it's a win/win for IB). More targeted, more traffic, and more advertising/sponsorship $$$.

Yes that's what I meant: two different sub forums.

Props. Thanks for listening!

New engine huh? Anyone who says these are new engines has either not looked at the engine parts, or is mimicking someone who hasn't. Below is Petevb's quote on the "new" engine. Guessing most of you missed it, or perhaps don't know who Pete is, or don't know his credentials...

Either way, you're all very wrong, to a fault. It's not a new engine by any stretch. This isn't a new car, and it even shares the same transmission. Don't want to read the 991.2 stuff? Don't click on it.

Hey mods, perhaps you can separate the GT3 and GT2 forums. After all both are Mezgers, but one has a turbo "bolted on."

Guys, as a reminder, we have great moderators. Not an easy job. And thankless to boot. Lastly, to grab a Mods attention, just "report" post (triangle icon or with the mobile app click on any post header) and type a quick note for reporting issue.

That's what I did last night, and Hacker got involved right away.

The more "reports" the more/faster attention, I'm sure.

Best thread I've seen in a long time. Great suggestion.
I wish I felt the same as you that the change was so great ... I could spec out a black Carrera S with the Carrera S wheels and from the sideview it will look exactly like my current car. A really trained eye might notice the cut out in the rear bumper and possibly the different door handles.

And the engine, exhaust sound, front/rear bumpers, engine grill, PCM, steering wheel, door handles, and on .....

I bet the average Joe would say the same thing about a 997 vs. a 991

How is this an argument against two different forums?? It's only a click away now to any of the other ones. Will make reading up on both much easier.

The 991.1 being the last of the NA's will be a popular forum for years to come. It's a disservice to both 991.1 and 991.2 owners to be lumped together.

I voted "No." I feel like there isn't enough new content here on a daily basis to justify more than one 991 forum. I can already go a couple of days without visiting the site and then get caught up in just a few minutes. Having two forums to visit instead of one seems overkill to me. Maybe I'm just used to busier websites, but that's my 2 cents.
