(I have a 991.1 but am curious about the 991.2 and I'm too lazy to go to two different sections to keep up to date...)

I vote no. When my 991.2 arrives in march, I will have both and I don't really want to be wading thru two boards especially when many of the threads apply to both.

To me, it's a different enough car that it merits the separate forum. The issues and fixes will be quite different.

As my 2015 C2s reaches the end of its warranty I want to know how the 991.2 turns out to decide whether to keep my car forever (like my 1974 911 I have had almost 40 years) or buy a newer model with standard turbos, rear wheel steering and center Boxter style Porsche Sport Exhaust. The comparisons on a single 991 list with owners of both 991.1 and 991.2 chiming in will be valuable fodder. With only a little over four years of 991 production a separate 991.1 list will surely die.
991.2 owners will enjoy arguing MT vs PDK and Rhodium Silver vs GT Silver along with the rest of us.

Measured by threads or posts it's one of the least active. The 924/44/68 and 928 forums are far more active on a daily basis. Thread turnover in this forun is pathetic as compared to those.

I for one have never understood why the 996-991 Turbos got separate forums. I can only assume that at some point in the distant past a few Turbo owners complained like little girls that they didn't feel special enough.

^^^^ one of the drama queens who are a good example of why this is a good idea. God forbid someone can't voice their opinion on something without someone's sensitive feelings getting hurt over a car they don't, or probably won't ever own.

Causing drama for the sake of causing drama. You must lead a miserable life. 52 posts to your name, and NOT ONE that gives any substance on any subject. I encourage anyone to read though them. One liner worthless posts.

I'm actually happy about the 991.2, gives me zero reason to want to change cars! Although the GT3 is always tempting.

Last post on the front page is from december 12th.

hardly seems to require splitting forums.

This is a very good point. A lot of the traffic in this forum comes from two sources: off-topic (as already pointed out) and prospective NEW car buyers. If the forums are split, you probably lose a large chunk of the former and all of the latter.

I mean look at all the "OT: insert new non-Porsche car Review" threads. I doubt there would be such an inclination to post those sort of threads in a 991.1 forum if a 991.2 forum existed, but it sure seems like they would still be relevant for a 991.1 owner in spite of that fact.

Another thing to consider is the fact that other 911 forums aren't really split up like this. Take for instance the 997 forum. Granted, there is probably a bigger difference between the 991.1/2 than the 997.1/2, but I'm not sure it matters as far as the forums are concerned. The reason is when referring to a given car, we almost always state the model year and/or the type code, so anyone that is a Porsche owner or even been following Porsche for a short time instantly knows everything he needs to know.

A good example of too much splitting are the 987-981 forum and the separate Cayman forum. The 987-981 has 131 viewers right now while the Cayman forum has 18 viewers. I own a 981 Cayman and I never look at the Cayman forum, mostly because I forget it's there (the forum, not the car).

Why not just have the 991.2 as a weak sister of the 991 turbo forum? Just like what the University of Michigan is to Michigan State.

You all think having a 99.1/991.2 difference is annoying you should check on the Rennlist Boxster forum which mixes the 987.1/987.2/981.1/981.2. The Cayman owners all get confused because they are technically the same models and yet their is a separate Cayman forum. Confusing and annoying.

Voted no. It would make it harder for me to read about both cars and I'm a selfish bastard. Also, where would I go to see posts like this one where people are arguing how similar or dissimilar the cars are?

There's less reason to have three 991 forums than there is to have a 928S4/GT/GTS forum a 928 S3 forum and a 16v 928 forum.
