I think the gentleman above hit the nail on the head, if it gets reported to carfax, I wouldn't keep it.

so at the end of the lease, would there be any way to re-negotiate the residual value because it's been in a accident? If the car is repaired perfectly, and you'd like to keep the car because it's the last of the NA porsches, I don't see why you couldn't buy back the car at a lower value b/c of the Carfax...

The residual is non-negotiable.

Interesting. I never leased so I assumed that the bank assumed the risk of diminished value and they probably mitigated that risk by their leasing fee. But since you collected diminished value, the person turning in a car at lease-end, which was damaged in a collision caused by another party may find him/herself liable to the bank or leasing company for the diminished value loss.

My dealer had to order the turbo S wheel from Germany.. anyone else have trouble finding it in the US?
It's delaying my repairs, kind of weird they don't have it.

Finally got my car back and added some mods after reading a lot of the posts here.

Wire mesh grill
K40 radar & defuser
Changed the badging to Porsche GTS

Pictures to follow later.

Had a question about my tire replacement and oil change. After my accident, I needed to replace the back left tire. Should the dealer have also replaced the back right tire as well? I currently have 4500 mile. I also wanted to get my first oil change but they were charging something ridiculous like $450. Considering either doing it myself or just waiting until I get to 10K. Interested in what you guys think.

Thanks

1) Tire- guys are getting 15-20,000 miles on rear tires. So your 4,500 mile difference is nothing. Give that new tire a few hundred miles to scrub in.

2) oil change- I change my oil every 5,000 miles. Don't go 10,000 miles. Especially if you own it.

Ditto on the 5K oil changes.

It's really pretty easy to do. If you already have tools the one thing you might need to get is a 36mm socket to remove the filter housing.

Seems to be more or less the going rate in NY, unfortunately. They wanted $350 in Long Island, but that was last year - dealerships may have increased their prices since then. Best to do it yourself.

Be thankful its a lease, now you at least have the option at lease end to have it appraised and determine an informed course of action. This is precisely why I lease my cars. I don't want to be on the hook for diminished value due to some idiot report that is so general it can be destructive.

Almost a month ago I was hit in a similar way. A guy decided to change lanes into my car, hardly noticeable damage on his Charger. The damage on my car is depicted here.

The final cost to repair was over $15k. The repair bill included a new rear tire, and since the one on there had about 7k on it, the body shop persuaded the insurance company to include a second new rear tire.

Hit it a few more times then dump it - nobody wants damaged goods.

Had a similar hit on the wife's Maserati that was over 34k. I'm in the wrong business.

Holy cow...$15k to fix that? I hope the other driver's insurance paid for the damage.
