The only time to wear gloves...is when the rules require nomex to participate.

I have many pair of proper driving gloves including the expensive ones from Porsche-Design and two pair from past Porsche offerings. I don't find the "feel" on the steering wheel is quite right with any of these. Then I bought a pair of good golf gloves (1/10th or less the cost of Porsche Design driving gloves) and these work fantastically on the steering wheel. Full wheel feel, better grip and warm hands!

i have coached some drivers at DE events who say their hands sweat so much when driving on track that things get gross/slippery. I get that...in this case gloves help solve a problem.

Otherwise, I believe that maximizing 'feel' is key when driving a car hard, on road or on track. As drivers we react to all inputs to control/adjust the car at speed...it is smart to maximize the directness those inputs and not dampen them.

This thread is dangerously similar to the "How do you open your door?" Thread.

I wear them to keep the oil from your hands and the sweat from your hands off the Alcantara Steering wheel. I assume I'm keeping the car forever

Thats a relevant point. I have a GTS coming with the Alcantara wheel too and have been wondering on how to keep it clean, besides scrubbing it down with the special cleaners.

I always enjoy these threads about keeping alcantara clean. To date no one has ever shown me a picture of 'dirty' alcantara. Europeans buy a much larger percentage of cars with fabric interiors than we do here in the states. I wonder if they wring their hands in worry that their interiors won't hold up as well as leather? Alcantara is a FABRIC like any other and it can be cleaned like any other. If you dig ditches for a living and then drive your 991 home without washing your hands then YES you are better off with a leather steering wheel. Otherwise, just chill.
