Default Carrera vs. Carrera S brakes

Anyone know if 991 C2S brakes can be bolted on to a standard Carrera? Particularly in the front we are talking 6 piston bigger calipers on the C2S vs. 4 piston calipers on C2. Not sure if the uprights are the same.

Anyone ever try this?

I have wondered this as well. I believe that the rotors are different sizes and would need to be switched too.

The Carrera's 4 piston brakes are plenty powerful - get them professionally painted any color you want, add decals and clear coat for a whole lot less than swapping brake components!

Cool

Carrera 330mm front rotors

Carrera S 340mm front rotors

So you will need a LOT more parts than just the calipers.

...and then there is the change to the ABS system to read the new brakes...

...and if you have PASM or SPASM and/or PTV and PDCC...

A long and $lippery $lope once you go there.

Depending on your needs you're likely better off just buying a brembo BBK kit but you should just need rotors and calipers. Check the assist pump and master cylinder part numbers between the S and base jic.

While you're at it, add the wing, the GTS emblems. No one will know.

Haha love it the emblems comment. Yes guess this is a little more complicated than putting 996 brakes on my '87.

It's not that I want them red, but I like the 6 piston calipers and the black paint on the 4 piston calipers ends up looking like crap after a couple of years (at least on the cars I have looked at).

Thanks for the help.

I've done it - this is a well-understood upgrade. Suncoast sells a complete kit with all necessary parts, and it's cheaper than a BBK:

The reason I went for it is because I track my car a lot. The upgrade was well worth it from that standpoint. Sure, the car looks a bit unusual with the red calipers in the front and the original black ones in the rear, but I am not interested in the looks.
I had it installed by my Porsche dealer to ensure it doesn't affect the warranty.

There you go direct replacement.

Btw, if you read the bottom of the link it says not warranty compliant. Having your AD install it might help but if PCNA decides they can get away with denying a claim because of this they will.

What happens to 4 piston calipers versus 6 piston calipers in the long term?

be worth checking that the ABS control module is the same in the base and S, but you would hope that ABS operation is the same, based upon (non)rotation of a particular wheel, so it *should* not matter... more important to check that
the brake bias and master/slave cyls are compatible ...
