LED vs standard Bi-Xenon
Anyone who has had both to compare and see a big difference?
Wondering if the LED is worth the $1600.
I have only had the standard and seems ok to me. Plus I like the blacked out look with the standard lights.
Am getting PDLS with the premium pkg plus.

I have bi-xenons on my 981, and TruckLite LEDs on my Jeep. The 981's headlights are great, no problem with them at all, but the LEDs are a generational leap forward in all respects. If the PDLS LEDs are as good as the TruckLites you will kick yourself for not specifying them.

I have Bi-xenons on my M5 and I think they suck at night compared to the after market JW Speaker LEDs I just installed on my wife's Wrangler. Back when bi-xenons first came out Im guess ing they were great, but seems to me LED is the latest lighting technology.
I have trouble seeing potholes on dimly lit roads and it drives me mad. LED with PLDS Plus was a no brainer for me. I also felt since i was going 991.1, it would help to keep the front fascia fresher, if that makes any sense.
Four point DRLs sealed the deal - I noticed on 991.1 the bi-xenon does not include these, but on the 991.2 the Bi-xenons do.

I love my LEDs. Mainly got them for the cool halo DRL function. I don't find them any better than my past bi-xenons. But I like the whiter light quality. Dynamic cornering is great. As is the automatic high beam function. I also like the consistency of all the 991's exterior being LEDs.

Standard lights on the 88 911
Bi-Xenon on the 08 Cayman
PDLS LED on the 14 991
Get the PDLS LED...phenomenal advances in safety...if $ is a factor, trade another option for it. Career helicopter pilot here so I always look for any safety advantage in my equipment. You won't regret it.

In America the Xenons.are legally the maximum brightness you are allowed. There is no benefit to the LEDs. The focusing and cut off of the Xenon is excellent. In Europe, these LEDs go a lot brighter, not in the US.
Also the Xenon running lights, which is a strip of LEDs looks much better on the front of the car - it reenforces the 'squat, low' look of the car. The LEDs have just four dots on the headlights which is the most boring LED pattern I have seen on any car.
Basically for LED's you are paying a lot of money with very little gain and I think a worse visual look. Save your money. Get leather wrapped sun visors and steering wheel column instead, you will actually notice these.... :-)

What if the USA laws change some day? Can the LEDs be easily reprogrammed? I think yes. Bi-xenons? I think not.
And I think the USA based LEDs do generated more Lumens above a certain speed. I'd have to recheck the manual to confirm.

Well on the other hand it limits the damage a bit. Meh. It's not that any of those people are in cars that have a LED option.
