Default New 991.2 cars at LS yesterday!

Went to Rennsport Reunion yesterday and saw the new 991.2 cars at the Porsche exhibit.

They had a Lava Orange Carrera and a GT Silver S to be honest I liked both cars, I took a closer look at the new rear, and liked it...

here is the *bad* news, I watched and listened to both cars lap the track, you could simply not hear the base Carrera (w/base exhaust) exit out of T4, the
S with PSE did actually make a noise under acceleration out of the apex to the
exit ... but it was not that imposing!

yupp....agree with their sounds ( I think most Porsche fanatics are doomed to having to order the expensive PSE as a " must " , as opposed to the 991.1s where the motors , esp the base one , sound decent without it .

The vertical strakes on rear engine cover are ok in real life , but it is the front that seems a bit overly aggressive due to its large GT4/GT3 -sized gaping openings required for engine heat mgmt of turbo motors , but seems a bit out of place for these traditionally more buttoned down " DD " models, imo.

BTW , you parked on the left side of my C4S yesterday ( I recognized the personalized plates with your initials on pics you prev posted , plus your car is a cool looking one of a kind ) ...what are the odds, esp with the scores of GT3s and 991s in our parking area ...I had to repark elsewhere after the Parade Lap

I could not hear the base car ... it was amazingly quiet ... and the S sounded ok, not sure how much of that was PSE though... but I agree to be on the safe side, I'd be ticking the PSE as a MUST HAVE

It's very difficult to get any Turbo car to have good engine noises out the back, that has always been a problem with Turbo cars. Guess we will see when they get here....I'd not be surprised to see some form of digital enhancement played through the stereo system in the car to get the right tone.

I'm with you, Larry. I was pleasantly surprised by the new cars in person. They basically don't look terribly different to the 991.1, so much so that I doubt most people would notice the difference. Also agree that the front side air intakes are a little inelegantly large.

I was in the PCA tent when the silver car started and it was an awfully familiar sound, just, as expected, a little muted.

I have a couple decent pics that I'll post momentarily.

BTW - about Rennsport - holy smokes, what an event!! I was completely overwhelmed to see so many cars that I'd previously read about or seen in a race over the past 30 plus years right there in front of me. Totally overwhelming. And basically no barriers - you could walk right up to any and all of them. Such a great thing that they're able to do this and, apparently, nobody does anything stupid enough to keep it from happening again. Oh, and then to hear the 917, 935, 934, RSR, 956, 962, etc., etc. on track was simply astounding.

I thought they both looked pretty good, although I do have to say the I prefer the look of the PSE to that of the stock/base car's exhausts... they looked like 911's and the rear grille looks much better in
person than in photos and I think completely fits in with the brand/character of the car.

The base car sounded like a Dyson coming out of T4 at Laguna ... the PSE equipped S sounded much better ... PSE I think is a "MUST HAVE" on these
cars if you care about engine sound.
