Serious question, I'm not trying to be an *** although sometimes it happens without much effort - To everyone obsessing about weight, do you do this because you track your car competitively where every tenth of a second makes a difference or is it for some other reason?

I know my Targa is an overweight beast with a wide rear end and a heavy glass top (extra weight high in the back not so great in a 911). But it also has so much freaking power that I can't imagine it matters unless you are competing on the track.

Maybe I just need to get my car off the road and onto a track but I can't imagine that there are that many people using a new 991 as a track rat. As a fun or daily driver the weight difference wouldn't seem to matter at all.

Too funny Jeff and you are exactly right everyone is a track monster and need to be a 1/10 faster so that's why the coupe is better..lol.. The Targa hands down is the best looking 911 Porsche has ever made in my opinion! Also we maybe related somehow because my name is Tom Jones too...lol..

Anyway I was just watching this Targa GTS on the Ascari race track in Spain last night. It's a quick 5 minute YouTube video if you are interested great review! Looks like it does fine on the track to me!

And here is another one that I watched that is only two minutes long but explains it perfectly about being on the track with some great video of a Targa GTS on the track!

I didn't keep the link but I have seen spy shots of a new targa which had color options for the roof, non-alu roll frame and a c2 body width-wise and no band between the lights. There was a discussion where somebody said this is what the 991.2 targa will be.
