Power steering plus for Targa

Probably the tires "crabbing". This happens at close to full lock with the tires cold. It could be you notice this more with PSP because the lower steering effort makes it easier to bring the steering to full lock.

I have it on my Cayman S, but not on my 911 turbo. After comparing the two back to back for some weeks, i feel neither system is perfect. PSP makes steering way too light. It makes parking easier, but too much boost in any other situation. Maybe it should boost only when under 10 mph.
Without PSP, the 911 turbo steering feels tight at parking speed. i don't think 4 wheel drive increases steering effort much at parking speed, other than the car is heavier. Its mostly rear wheel drive at low speed/ light throttle.
if you drive in a city where parking spaces are small, PSP is a benefit. it's deactivated at speed higher than 30mph, so it should not affect spirited driving much. BTW, you can have it turned on or off via a software update at dealership. Suncoast sells the service for $299.

Theoretically, all wheel drive should increase steering effort at low speed because of the additional weight over the front wheels. If the dealer has comparable AWD and RWD 911s available (don't need to be Targas) you should drive both and form your own opinion.

Power steering plus for Targa
Isn't it a software mod? So order without it and then decide afterwards.
Personally I always thought the advantage of PSP is to make the steering feel tighter at high speed rather than feel lighter at low speed as all standard power steering are meant to be light to minimize effort.
Remember this...

I have it in my Targa4S and I like it well enough. I've never even thought about it to be honest. Steering seems appropriately easy when parking and appropriately communicative when driving.

I have PSP on my 4S which I have tracked. I have also tracked a 4S wo PSP. Lap times in both were the same……but if anything, steering was a bit more precise at high speed with PSP. And BTW, no real perceptible difference if road feel which is is better in the 4S than the 2S anyway.
So pick what you like. Either way you WILL be happy.
