Default GT3 wheels on a GTS?

Has anyone fitted GT3 wheels to their GTS?

I know this question has been asked a few times before, but I've been unable to find a definitive answer as to whether or not they will fit. There's a good thread on 6speed that points to willtheyfit.com, but no conclusive answer if they will work on a GTS.

Any experts here willing to weigh in? The front wheels have similar dimensions (just 4mm difference in offset with the GT3 wheel tucked in 4mm relative to the GTS wheel) and the GT3 rear wheel is a half inch wider with a 1mm offset differential (willtheyfit indicates the the GT3 wheel "will have an inner rim which is 5.3mm closer to the suspension strut. The outer rim will poke out 7.3mm more than before"). Tire size is exactly the same.

GT3 wheels:
Front - 9.0J x 20 ET 55
Rear - 12.0J x 20 ET 47

GTS wheels:
Front - 9.0J x 20 ET51
Rear - 11.5J x 20 ET48

Seems pretty close, but has anyone actually done this?

Why would you want to? Much better aftermarket alternatives. Plus the finish on the GT3 wheels chips like crazy.

They do fit. Someone tried it and put them on. Didn't end up keeping them on. Will track down pic/post later.

If you like the look go with GT4 wheels, which is what I did. You only need a spacer up front, and it's a standard Porsche one of 15mm. Plus they're available in mostly the same finish as the GT3. Of course, they aren't centerlock in case you need that...

Thanks for the info - I'd certainly appreciate a link to the the post you're referring to. My opinion, these are the best looking wheels for the 991 (though I do think your P101s look great). My GTS order is for a dark blue metallic, and I prefer the platinum satin finish wheels to black Turbo S wheels that are standard.

This is such a good looking GTS! Did you order your wheels through exclusive, or swap them out after delivery? Exclusive will not let me order the GT3 wheels on my build, so will probably relegate the standard ones to winter duty if I get a second set. Two reasons I'm looking for the GT3s over the GT4s - I want to keep the centerlocks and I like the wider setup of the GT3s.

I'll dig around tomorrow. A member had them mounted on his GTS and had a pic of them on a lift. It did look sweet!!

It was Vise who mounted the GT3 wheel. I have 5-lug 12"/48 offset HRE P40's on the rear of my GTS with -6mm inner clearance - no problems. In my discussions with Wheel Enhancement, they felt you could go -8mm without issue.

I thought it was Vetsky. Haven't heard from him forever. Canadian with one of the first GTS's. GT silver.

It was Vetsky. Someone track down his post. Here or on 6Speed. He was posting both places.

Thanks guys. Vetsky posted the thread on 6speed I referenced earlier, but couldn't find a follow up.

I'll do a little more searching.

I knew I saved the pic!! Was so unique! Found it.

I think he was curious to try them and the dealer had an extra set. This is as far as it went. I think the fit was fine.

Thanks! Really appreciate the help.

Here's some of the inspiration behind the original question:

If only the GT3 was available with a manual and rear seats...

+1 on the rear seats. A deal breaker for me right now. Have young kids that need to ride in the back that love rides!

Please keep us posted on what you decide to do.

My only concern would be the platinum finish on that style wheel. Over on the GT3 forum, there are a lot of complaints about paint chipping because of stones.

I think the finish isn't that great, and the wheel design with the fins contribute to it.

They do look great though!
