Requesting coolant information
Where's the info. on the coolant? No info. on capacity, when to change, etc. The only thing in the manual is checking the level which I've done (took 28 oz. of mix to bring near max on a 13 C4 and no warnings). My main concern is replacement time and I don't believe in "lifetime".

I just checked the maintenance schedule. It's not mentioned there either. I'll probably have mine changed at around the 5 year mark (50-60,000 miles). Capacity should be at least 6 gallons.
So, how do you check the level? I've never opened that blue trimmed cap yet.

The little red bobber was at the 'minimum" end (toward the car front); made up a 50-50 mix of Porsche antifreeze/distilled water and added 8 oz. at a time. The bobber began moving toward the "maximum" end and was close to maximum after 24 oz. added. Got the car when 16 months old and added the fluid 2 months later. By the way LexVan, I'm doing my first oil change this weekend going to Mobil 1 5w-50.

I'll check my coolant one day soon. I assume cold?
Thanks!

Coolant change requires a Porsche programmed computer to cycle and bleed the system. It takes a few hours and don't try it at home. Had it done at 45000 miles

Well that was easy. Thanks for this post, John.
Mine needed about 12 ounces of distilled water to get the red bobber in the middle.
A little hard to see with the cabriolet top style engine bay. But my cell phone flashlight saved me.
That cap is wonderful. Works soooooo much better than the old style. Easy off. Easy on. And a "click" to know it's seated and home.
Thanks again.

After the dealer replaced and refilled the coolant, the system wasn't perfectly bled by their fancy computer-controlled system. Over several drives I had to add a little coolant, each time from about the half mark to the full one. Easy to do, but Porsche shouldn't claim their system reliably fills the coolant system.

Todd, how do you know it's "over-maintaining"? Would rather be safe that create potential problems due to under-maintaining but no one seems to know when to replace. Like I said earlier, I don't believe in "lifetime" but where's the standard?
