Still really not loving the tail pipe arrangement. Or the rear grill. Otherwise, it doesn't seem remarkably different in appearance, to my eye, from the pictures.

And the manual transmission isn't dead, which is good.

What's not to like? More torque, more power and more gismos. When my 13 C4 comes off CPO in 2019 there'll be a CPO 991.2!!!!

not really, but its claimed that this is a major contributor to the cornering abilities of the GT3 and RS ... so it moves the S closer to the GTs in handling
I wonder if that will be part of a "Sports Chrono" pkg...

RAS is a big deal. Shoulda done it on the GTS.

All the rest is pretty much what I expected- modest HP increase with plenty of low end torque overcompensating for RIP NA.

Okay I am gonna go out on a limb here and subject myself to endless ridicule (okay, that's not a limb, that's SOP) and ask, two thousand SEVENTEENS go on order November two thousand FIFTEEN???

Looks, and by all accounts, drives great.

Can't wait to get one to try out.

I'm looking forward to it. While my S has 100 more hp than the M235i I traded it in on, it doesn't feel as fast in everyday driving. I love a factory turbo setup.

It seems these turbo charged engines have pretty big capabilities beyond the stock tune
I am sorry but you couldn't be more wrong than that. I sincerely hope Dinan doesn't get involved with the tuning of these new turbocharged Porsche down the line. Or else we will end up with overpriced $5000 tune with some shady "warranty" that does virtually nothing ... Would much prefer the guys at Cobb and BMS get instead.

The use of same engine block, with minor difference in tuning and possible supporting hardware (intercooler, exhaust setup, etc.) is a bit of lazy engineering, but expected after all... The C2S better have a significant chassis upgrade over the standard Carrera to justify the price difference.

Thanks for posting! Undoubtedly it has to be faster. Every iteration is slightly faster.

The true test is what kind of visceral reactions you get when driving it. A lot of us appreciate the air-cooled sound and response. Others love the rougher and more direct 997 generation. And still most of us on the 991 forum appreciate the execution combined with a (mostly) analogue experience.

I completely understand the move towards turbos, but I will always be happy about my NA 991. Whenever my massive (by future standards) 3.8 engine winds up and I can hear it fully with my windows down, I will say a prayer of thanks to the gods that allow me to experience this.

You may be able to place an order this year, but you're not going to see a 991.2 until early-2016. And a MY17 model in early CY16 (even if it's January) is not crazy uncommon.

Starting to look like there will be more positives than negatives. The real proof will be in the driving experience.

On our current cars the key to wringing out the best performance is keeping the car in the higher rev range as our torque is modest for low end grunt. The turbos will have the grunt down low so finessing the RPM's to minimize lag might be similar with greater payback in overall performance.

I drive on twisty back roads daily. This will the real test for me to see if I can get the same thrill level when taking the car through gear changes for this type of driving. I am a turbo fan so it will interesting to SS how the car handles in real life. I'm tired of all the debate and just reading about it but I know that is part of he pre launch mania.

Nothing revolutionary as far as I can see over my 50th or the current GTS...more evolutionary despite the move to Turbos. Believe they are leaving a lot of room for more performance with the modest hp/Q gains in the future .2 model. The RAS and Front Axle Lift are interesting to me though may not be the worth the extra cost. Cosmetics--neutral on the front, negative on the rear...bet the vertical grilles go away on the next evolution.
