Default Will Porsche build a Porsche 911 Sedan?

That would look good but it would ruin the 911 legacy.

From the article:
Will Porsche build a Porsche 911 Sedan? They have built a concept before but it never made it to production.

Photos and article - Will Porsche build a Porsche 911 Sedan?

They already did. It's called the Panamera.

That was my thinking. Must be a really slow news day to produce this kind of junk.

There have been questions about whether Porsche will build a smaller sedan for a while, but I don't think there is any way it would be an extension of the 911. I think it would be a totally new model. I also think it would be a good idea for the company to build one.

I've seen stories about a coupe version of the Panny, wouldn't that be a 911?!? I'm sure if I looked hard enough, someone has blogged about a rear engine Cayman, or any other linear combo of Porsche tech & models.

After the Ferrari fighter, I'm really interested to see what the proposed/blogged 4 banger will look like. Maybe it's the Le Mans effect, but it'd
be interesting to see what Porsche can do with four cylinders & hybrid technology on the street, an updated 912 (street legal 919? Half a 918, the 459?) if you will.

I actually think it's called the Macan. Panamera was a poor first attempt.

I hear they might make a smaller version of the Cayanne, too. Just a rumor, though...

IMHO they are not going to build any more vehicles with a rear-engine layout. That ship has sailed. It's too much of a (literal) pain in the *** for the engineering department.

Doh! Think I'd have remembered that after having recently told the missus how much trunk space there was in my recent Panny loaner...T

That's it exactly. And the fact that they launched the Panamera in Shanghai Auto says volumes.

But hey, if Panameras and Cayennes help pay for R&D for 911s, 918s, 960 etc - I'm good w/ that.
