Need help with 7th gear
Hello all
Need help... I just took delivery of my GTS and I was on the highway for first time and I was unable to shift to 7th gear. Tried from 5th and 6th always seem to land in 5th... Is it most likely operator error? Does it require extra force to reach 7th?

It does not require force, but there is a slight dogleg to the right and up. Perhaps you just need some practice, its probably unlikely there is anything mechanically wrong.

You should be able to practice while stationary. As others have said, it's a bit like moving into reverse. Although it shouldn't require any extra force, there's a definite dog-leg in the mechanism (specifically so you won't shift into 5th by mistake).
Fwiw, as I learned the best way to drive my GTS MT, I learned to shift from 1st to 2nd fairly quickly. But for all other gears, I drive well into the upper RPM range before shifting. There's a big difference in torque up there, and it's much more fun to drive. Even on the highway, I often drive between 4th and 6th gears. I only move up to 7th if I'm going to driving a long distance at a sustained rate of speed.

Your car is brand new. It will loosen up after a few thousand miles. Normal. The throw is pretty long for 7th gear.

If also add, use your thumb to put slight pressure on the shift **** to guide into the 1:00 position for 7th gear.

That could be why you're having trouble with any 5th to 7th shifts.
