991.2 "undisguised"
#601
Hello, I just joined the forum and am looking at getting a 991 but this new face lift is disgusting. I'm pretty disappointed in Porsche for making a dog's breakfast out of the rear end of the car. =/
If I were to purchase a 991.2, does anyone think the old engine cover will bolt on with no hassle? Also I will order ANY exhaust so that it doesn't look like that... What was Porsche thinking?

there is ALWAYS another variant or improved version coming that to a well informed sophisticated buyer group ( 911 crowd ) possibly discounts what is sitting new on dealer lots ..that will NEVER change for this model
look what the value packed GTS version did to C2S sales in the past year ..if Porsche were more clever , they would make base, S and GTS versions available from day one of the 991.2 ..they will bank more total profit that way !
market a " 911 R " variant with full adjustable GT3 suspension ( sans boy racer aero/ wing and 9K NA motor but std power kit and choice of PDK or 7 sp manual ) after two model years to regenerate sustaining hype .

I totally disagree....They won't make more money by launching GTS at start, the GTS is a value play car towards end of cycle and works well to turn inventory before new model launches. If you launch it from day 1 the manufacturer is giving up potential markup when from a logic standpoint it's not needed yet as many want the latest model anyways and load options on the new car with the standard pricing in place. Many manufacturers have a similar approach (a option rich or value based car at a reduced msrp) towards end of model cycle with good results but it isn't the best money making approach if done at launch.

Notable:
Exhaust placement on the S. Who knows with PSE, etc..
Daytime running lights in the headlights on all headlight versions
Standard current brake sizes
Of course, door handles, steering wheel, PCM, front bumper, rear bumper, tail lights, new wheel style, AND turbo engine.

It's funny . . . we've seen those center exhausts for so long and now, we see more traditional base (duel ovals) and S (round quads) pipes. I think that if the center pipes show up in production, they're going to be for the PSE option.
