... One time on a PCA Tour I noticed very unsightly scratches in there, for which I naturally suspected my wife. She assured me it was not her. Then I recalled we had switched out (no this is not a lead-in to gratuitous double-entendres) so she could ride in a seriously hot-rodded 914 and it was the guy who rode with me who had done the dirty deed. (Seriously, no double-entendres!) So clearly 1) yes fingernails can scratch and 2) even if they are short guy length (knock it off!).
Which brings up the related question: when you open and close the door for your passenger, how do you handle their questions? Like, my wife once asked, "are you doing this for me or the car?" (Uh, both?)
And, what technique do you guys recommend for catching their feet just before they scrape their heels across the door sill????
Agreed, Chuck, the scratches in there (on others' cars, not mine, of course...) drive me bonkers!
Nothin' wrong with admitting the truth, so your "Uh, both?" answer is right on.
I just tell 'em to not scrape their shoes!
Presumably non-lubricated, so no icky mess left behind the handle; and vinyl, as the dry latex type leave powdery debris?
Correct. The powder you easily can dust off with a micro fiber towel or sometimes a nice gentle but firm blow works. I then put each used condom over each stalk, the top half of the two shift paddles on my sport design steering wheel, and the last one on the gear selector **** to protect them.

My maid cleans the blow out of the car every Monday morning, so a little additional dust, powder, dandruff, or dried lube doesn't last.
Rumor has it the 991.2 door/handle will be one piece, no more seam around the handle. Huge improvement, not having that seam there to pick up polish and wax. It only took Porsche how many years to get back to doing what they did for decades with all the air-cooled cars?
I keep my car covered and prefer to never drive it.
If circumstances dictate that I must remove the cover, for whatever reason, my car requires a full 3 hour wash and detail before the cover is replaced.
Of course, the additional caveats apply, every inch of the car is covered in Xpel, hands must be washed before the car is touched, shoes must be removed and placed in the shoe bag, no denim, no rings and of course the car can never be driven in snow, rain, dust, pollen or in warm weather when bugs are out. Obviously not to the mall, either.
