Ugh, I am just not digging the small styling changes. I have no problem with a smaller turbocharged engine if it has more power and improvements to the PCM, etc., but the external styling seems like a step backwards.
The exact same stuff that has been leaked this past year. All this news isn't anything to get excited about other than steering wheels and PCM. The rest? Blah. Aesthetics and engine? Yuk.
OP, you could at least post the info instead of putting the link from the GT3 forum where you also posted!
The Op's comments. Here you go:
* note, engines will be turbo charged.
The Porsche dealers in Europe have this week placed their first orders for showroom cars for the launch of the 991.2. Publicity/photos will be released on Sept 1st. Early cars will start hitting customers in Dec. The dealers test drivers have already been given access to the cars and report that the S is significantly quicker and close to the GT3 in performance. Certainly faster in everyday driving due to the torque. Not so much at the top end.
Some other stuff I learned, most of which we already know:
- S engine is a fraction under 3.0 litre because of the China market and puts out 430hp
- change to the doors. There is no handle insert, just a smooth one piece panel
- clear headlight covers are flatter than current ones
- tail light graphics changed with a slightly different shape
- 3 different steering wheels including a smaller diameter wheel the same as the one in the new RS
- sport plus/pasm buttons move top steering wheel
- new PCM unit is standard feature and supports Apple Play and local WIFI
- engine cover is black like current GTS

I accidentally posted on the GT3 board so instead of reposting here, which tends to annoy people, I provided a link to the post on the GT3 board.
And unless I missed it, I do not recall anyone making comments about the lights covers, the door handles or the PCM before. Also, this is the first actual confirmation from a factory order that the engine is 430hp. Everything before this has been guesswork. But I guess you know it all.

Thanks for the additional info. I don't "know it all" and never claim to. Lighten up my friend, I'm not trying to steal your thunder here. Just contributing. It is a "forum"??
The rumors and "guesswork" have been accurate though.
** Full disclosure: I am a self admitted NA fan though, and anti-turbo.
With rumors of GT3 speed in a Carrera S, despite having turbos, it will attract a lot of people. The old school guys will probably stick to their NA engines, but there are plenty of new buyers to attract to the brand with HP and Torque figures.
What's up with the center exhaust on a non GT car. Atleast the front end does not denote a GT3 or for that matter turbo intakes if this car is to be turbo charged?
It's just more power with each iteration, when will it end?

Well I figure one thing is for sure, if all the cars are going to be turbocharged then we can almost be certain that only the 500+ 911TT version will have the turbo inlets!
Interesting comments from Porsche's CFO regarding the 991.2. Mainly confirming stuff we already know but still...
"Mr. Meschke, who is also in charge of Porsche's digital strategies, said that new models of the company's iconic sports cars and popular sport-utility vehicles will come with Apple Inc.'s CarPlay preinstalled on the in-car communication system. The first model to allow drivers to use their favorite iPhone apps on the car's pop-up display will be an upgraded version of the 911 sports car that will be unveiled at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September."
