Default lowering your GTS...

Ok Guys I need the collective wisdom of the forum here...

I *really* want to lower the GTS (cabriolet) and retain PASM, and I am
struggling with the options which generally appear to be:

cheapest: lowering springs (TechART, H&R, GMG...)

Seems like this is the obvious option, cheap, and delivers the result, but there
is no adjustability in ride height, and its questionable what the resulting ride will be like...

midprice: height adjustable springs (KW, Elephant kit)

adding height adjustability gives you the option to play with the ride height and also corner balance the car, the Elephant kit is probably the best but requires destructive mods to the PASM shocks to install, the KW kit is a
simple bolt on

most expensive: Bilstein B16 Damptronics

I true set of PASM coilovers, seems to tick all the boxes, but I am getting mixed reviews of their resulting ride from people I trust...

any advice/experience to share?

What about the "livability" aspect? You'll be scraping and crabing like crazy. You want GT3 ride hight with no front lift. Even very few of the GT3 crowd sign up for that.

I mean - the TechArt Springs for us as you know are a very popular option.... I have spent quite a bit of seat time in a 991 with the TechArt springs and have been more than happy.

The second alternative that I suggest is going all the way to the Bilstein B16 Damptronic Kit. We have done a few on 991 GTS' as well!

My questions for you....
What is the end result?
Is this your daily driver?
Do you plan on tracking it?
Are you just looking to lower the gap in the wheel well?

To me, for Daily Comfort and Ride Height with an additional sporty feel, The TechArt is the way to go. Here is a GTS on TechArt Springs (with TechArt 20" wheels)

Is it possible to just get a set of SPASM springs, then?

I am interested in the outcome of this thread

I am in the same situation where PASM stock feels perfect but doesn't look quite "Stanced' like i wish. I am on the fence too.

Yes, if you can figure out the p/n#'s for them ... but probably not advised for a cabriolet, since I believe the OEM springs are linear ... for a cab probably better with a progressive rate since the length of travel is reduced.

I'm curious what the B16's bring to the party, since bilstein are the OEM for PASM, is it simply a coilover or is there more to it?

in answer to your questions:

end result: primarily lowered stance, but the ability to corner balance the car would be a plus

will I track it? only occasionally c.f my avatar for the track car

If it's just for looks and visual appeal, then do Techart.

It's good enough for typical street usage, and gives you enough of a drop that will look a bit more aggressive without leaving you a brain-teaser of a geometry puzzle every time you try to enter a drive way, or drive or a dip in the road.

I would do the techart. They don't lower it too much, looks like SPASM ride height and havent heard ONE person complain they altered the ride at ALL from stock (well from stock GTS on those 20 inch wheels)

Very happy with techart springs. Love the new stance and ride quality is very close to stock, maybe slightly stiffer but hardly noticeable.
