My new Carrera has the 4 way sport plus seats in it. Initial impression was that I much prefer the 14 ways in my Cayman. Thought they were too wide at the shoulder (6'1"/180). After driving a bit more, they're growing on me, though I wish I could dial in just a bit more lumbar.

It looks like I need to make a decision about what I value more - weight or support. It seems the 18 way sport plus provide more support than the 4 way sport plus. I think I'm going to change my order to include the 18 way sport plus. Thanks for all of the feedback everyone.

If I may add one point, the reason Porsche uses Alcantara in their motorsports cars is because it is incredibly grippy. The GTS seats have Alcantara not only on the seat bottom but on the seat back as well. If you're looking to be supported during spirited driving don't discount the grip afforded by that material. It was a huge factor in me getting the 4 ways over the 18. The weight penalty for Alcantara is non-existant while the 18 way seats are a verifiable 70lb penalty.

That is a very good point however i am getting alcantara for that very reason. I do track my cars and plan on tracking my GTS so i am looking for the most supportive seats i can get which seem to be the alcantara and 18 way sport plus combo.

@ibmiked I read an article about the 992 seats between 4-way S+ & 18-way adaptive S+ having a 60+lb savings. However, I can't seem to find the article now. I read it a few months back and it always stuck with me.

Do you have any documentation about the "verifiable" 70lb penalty?

Hi smiles, sorry but it has been a while since I researched this info and I can’t recall now where I read it. But I was thoroughly convinced at the time.

Other than the weight difference, I remember seeing someone said before that the 18-way sits about 1" higher than the 4-way due to the additional electrical stuff underneath the seats.
