4 way sport plus seats
Hi
I am new here and i just placed an order for a GTS coupe. I have specced the sport plus 4 way seats and have just found out from my dealer that they do not have adjustment of the side bolsters. My father has a 991 Turbo S with sport plus adaptive 18 way seats and when i drive his car, i like the bolsters inflated all the way for max support. Do the 4 way seat bolsters feel like the 18 ways with the bolsters all the way deflated or inflated or somewhere in between? I'm just trying to figure out if i need to spec the 18 way sport plus seats in order to have the most support or if the 4 way is fine. I'd rather the 4way as i would assume they are lighter and i really don't care for any of the other adjustments the 18 way seats offer other than the side bolsters.

I believe the 4 way bolster is the equivalent of midpoint between full loose and full tight. I went back and forth on seat selection and the only way I could decide was to spend a few hours driving different cars. These cars are expensive, my advice is to find a seat that you love and buy that one regardless of the price difference.

18 way AS seats are awesome. I had them on a previous 911 & miss them. Now my wife hated getting in/out of the car tho. I would get them if you can. But certainly try several seat options b4 locking in the order! GL!

18 way seats are 35lbs each more than the 4 ways. I agree you need to sit in each, but if you don't need any of the other adjustments, remember that these cars don't even come with a spare tire to save weight and you're adding a total of 70lbs back into the car. I like them, but not enough and I went for the 4 way.

Other than the steering wheel & shifter (more so with MT) the only contact you have w the car is the seat! Weight would not be a primary reason to skip the 18 way *** for me (no pun intended)! Shave w some light wheels where unsprung lbs matter. My $.02😀

I surmise I'm going to have to try the normal 4-way seats and hopefully I am well fitted.

This is precisely the reason why i want the 4 ways but i will have to try them out before i make a decision. I plan on stopping by the dealer next week to try them out before making my final decision.

Great info - thanks. One comment I have seen frequently is that the 18-ways are good for smaller frames. I am 6'3" and 230 lbs, so I would like both to save weight, as well as be comfortable.

I'm 5'10" and when I was "fitting" seats 230 pounds. The only ones that even came close were the 18 way (I did test all seats). I actually have the 4 way Porsche office chair seat and the 18 ways in my 991s and Macan Turbo are more comfortable and supportive.

I have the sport plus 4-way seats primarily for weight, cost and less things to break down the line. (plan on keeping the car for 20+ years or more).
I found the sport plus to be much wider than the standard 4 way seat, especially in the shoulder area, which is another reason I chose them. I'm 6ft. 180lbs, normal build. The standard seat felt like it was constantly poking my shoulder blades. The sport plus bolsters felt just fine to me without needing more or less adjustment.
I also have a 2003 E46 M3 with the adjustable bolsters, I found that I inflate or deflate these bolsters very occasionally. It didn't seem worth it to me to add them to the 911 since I think you have to get a bunch of package extras to get them.
You really can't go wrong with what ever you choose, the sheer awesomeness of the car masks any minutiae of what options you did or didn't get.
I also got the no cost 2K rpm partial throttle stumble on my engine. I think it is option code TTT, which stands for Teutonic Throttle Tip-in. It doesn't really bother me, even though it's noticeable once in awhile.
