Is anyone buying non-GTS models anymore?

I had spent a lot of time with Melissa at Exclusive designing a pretty cool customized C4S last summer. But I threw it all away and switched my order the morning after the GTS was announced in September. Now I LOVE my GTS, but I’ve sometimes wondered whether I should have paid up and just kept my original, custom order. But heck, I think if I had done that, I would have been dying reading all these “my GTS is great” threads.
Is it just RLers or is no one buying non-GTS (normally aspirated) 911s anymore? It seems that there’s only been one or two non-GTS threads in the last few months. I guess there’s no more “limited availability” talk.

I'm sure there are plenty of people who go into a Porsche store and buy what's on the lot. They see the GTS and it's 135k price, and they see an S next to it with a 120k price, and they make the decision of whether they can tell $15k worth of difference in the two. Or maybe the GTS is Black and the S is Red and they want red. Or they don't like black wheels (I'm still struggling with that myself.)
But I doubt many people are ordering S's right now, given the GTS is so tantalizing for the price.

I love my C4s Cab! I like the GTS (mostly cuz of the power kit) but I would have to delete a few standard options if I ordered one (not in my budget) or looked for a pre-owned. Not a fan of the CL wheels, not just the hub issue, don't care for the wheel "spokes" themselves. Also, not a fan of the alcantra interior. But to each is his own. I like all 911 cars! There is no substitute!

I think the GTS is a great car and as close to a good value as you can find in a well-equipped 911.
But I didn't want one. The GTS is a bit more "Bad Boy" car in my mind with the dark tinted headlights, darker interiors, and sharper performance edge. I'm not sure that look won't become clicheish (sp?) in the years to come.
That wouldn't matter to me if I was a 3 year lease guy, but we ordered our Targa 4S with the intention of making it a family member. I wanted it to look more timeless. I think any new 911 has incredible performance, so we wanted some luxury too... like the Espresso & Cognac interior. And I like the bright sliver rollbar and I intend to accent it with the chrome front grills and engine cover from the 50th Annivesary cars.
So I know exactly what I wanted... we ordered in months ago and haven't wavered a second in our preferences... we just have different values than the typical GTS buyer.

Chuck, Even you ought to be able to identify a few differences in the GTS other then the Alcantara interior. And again, which model 991 do you own?

agreed. I was turned off by the black trim on the GTS, I prefer the look of chrome wheels and painted rear grill. I do wish I ordered the powerkit though. the front grill is nice on the GTS. Again, all personal preference. I think any 911 is a great car.

It's not that I'm a GTS fanboy. I just glance down the list of RL topics and it seems that they all contain the letters "GTS". It's beginning to feel like a GTS sub-forum.

In HK where I am in now, I don't see many 911 GTS's on the street. I think people who pay this kind of dollar usually want something more luxurious like the cognac interior and full leather rather than the so called 'bad boy' look with powerkit, black CLs, etc.
Boxsters and Caymans I have seen recently on the other hand have pretty much all being GTS versions.
