Tough emissions and mpg requirements killed the Flat-8 and will result in turbo forced induction in all future smaller displacement engines ...

Because the 911 then would make Rihana look like she needed a "booty implant" ...

This plan might have been an interesting project for Porsche engineers. But Porsche execs would not have approved the idea, because it will cannibalize the sales of Turbos. Who would buy Turbos, if there are such powerful NA Carreras?

If Porsche produces Flat-8 Carreras in a limited-number edition, I think they still can satisfy the overall emission and MPG requirement for their fleet. Of course, this limited edition will be priced quite high.

Yes, that's the unfortunate farce of a reality.

Hilarious! They could've just bumped it up into the back seat area. Would've been kick ***!

The flat 8 was never seriously considered for the reason given in the story, its too big. In a 991 world where engineers push the envelope to shift engine mass millimeters forward another cylinder would move it several inches further back. They could do it, but the result would be more Panamera than 911.

It would never cannibalize Turbo sales because there is so much more to the Turbo than just awesome power. Watch, you will see. Soon they will all be turbo'd- and yet the Turbo will remain right where it is today, sovereign.
