I realize it's not for everyone, but I like to hotrod/personalize things a bit, and what's better than an orange hood crest on an orange Porsche? The fact that it ties into Porsche's history and is a factory part made it even cooler for me. Here's a picture of the 'new' old crest installed and the original factory crest getting ready to be packed away for posterity:

As a one-year birthday present I brought the car in for paint correction, Xpel, and Opti Coat Plus. If you haven't done this yet to your car, you really should treat yourself. It's quite a transformation. I think the detail bay lights really show off Lava Orange in a way that is revealing.

So getting this done a year in, what did they have to do for paint correction? Anything beyond what would be normal for a new car? Like road debris chips, etc?

Looks stunning.

Thanks. No, the paint was in really good shape. Some water spots but the detailer was quite happy that he didn't need to work too hard. There are a few stone chips on the hood that are now memorialized under the Xpel film, but that's on me for waiting so long to wrap the front. I can live with them since I'm a firm believer in a little blush being off the rose before you can enjoy something fully.

The detailer remarked on how hard this paint is compared to 997 paint which he referred to as 'Goldilocks' paint (just right, not too hard, not too soft). I was really going for maximum protection with minimum maintenance which is why I went Opti Coat. With the PCCBs wheel clean up has always been a breeze and now I'm looking forward to how quickly the rest of the car will come clean. Every man's dream; a low maintenance super model at home.

My thoughts exactly. Worth painting the black, if you feel that way about them. I'm still elated with the change 3+ weeks in.

Best thing you could have done for your car NoGaBiker. Meant to say so on the thread too. Black wheels are not for everyone and silver is timeless.

Thanks! I have a '67S that is about to go into the paint shop. There's only so much 'car money' that I'm allowed to play with so in order to get this project to the finish line I need to make some sacrifices.

Just to let everyone know, the car sold quickly but the new buyer did not want the wheels, so they are now available in the classified section with lots of pictures available in a ZIP file. Because the car had PCCB these wheels are VERY nice inside and out and come with TPMS and Pirelli tires.
