Reassembled a car and 1 part is left unused. Where does it go to?
Hello everyone,
My first post here. I am a Porsche newb and I got into funny situation here.
I imported a salvaged 991 Carrera S 2013 from the US. It had a body damage and to fix it the half of the car had to be stripped. The damage is fixed now and it is reassembled back to its original state 99.99%, but there is one part that is left unused and the repairman who repaired and disassembled/ assembled the car does not know where that part belongs to.
Does anyone have a clue where does the part belong to? Please find pics below.

A source I found on Google identifies it as "Blende Halter" (German) which direct English translation is "Diaphragm Holder" which does not help much.
I can't find it in the 991 PET (Porsche Parts Catalog),....that part number or anything beginning with "9915" does not exist,....or at least not showing.
If I do a Google translation on it,...."Blende Halter" comes up "Visor Holder",.......my guess is that it could be some sort of shipping part only,.....removed by the dealer upon delivery. Maybe it got left in the car by mistake? According to PET it does not exist as orderable part for the 991.
WOW that's a great catch. Good thing it's not in the center of the car somewhere that will take you days to get to. Looks like a few minute job to pop into place.
It was my once-in-a-lifetime lucky-to-notice event. Shoot, wish I could have saved it for something more awesome. But I like this forum, I guess it's not all bad.
Sometimes I think this is the real reason people do photo documentaries of their work. Its not to show off or help others, its because they knew if they didn't photograph and document every step of the way they knew they'd never get it all back together again! I can think of at least one project I sure wish I had done it on!
It might be a part of the Sound Symposer, which uses an adjustable diaphragm to regulate the amount of engine noise let into the car interior.
If it is part of the Symposer assembly, it is a non essential part of the car, and will not throw any codes. It should be relatively easy to place back if that is what it is part of. Many people disable the Symposer anyways, or remove it or plug it.
I am also sure that a call to any Porsche Dealer parts department with the part number will identify it for you as well.

Thanks, I have a terrible memory. I literally jumped from the this thread immediately to the one that had the photo in it and couldn't believe my eyes. Figured I should sign up and post my once-in-a-lifetime event, add back a little to the forum I've been reading from the side-lines.
It made me think of open source programming, where, you get enough people looking at a piece of software, someone will likely spot a problem and someone (maybe different) will likely spot a solution.
Like someone else pointed out, the value of posting pictures can be enormous and not immediately obvious.
