Default A little off topic but..Doug Demuro's E63 Wagon press car for sale

My guy at the Benz dealer in Pittsburgh has one of these for sale. I recently purchased a 991 GTS but was in the market for an E63 Wagon. Anyways, my father has a G-wagon right now and maybe interested in trading it in for an E-wagon. Planning on seeing the car next week with my father. A few things that bother me with this car:

1. "Press car code" - does this mean that now it's in "limp mode"?

2. "New automatic transmission" - this was the deal killer for me personally.

3. 10K mile "press car" - i.e., this car was beaten harder than Ray Rice's Fiancée.

I wonder what warranty comes along with it ... 10k worth of journos spanking it ... and a new transmission.

doesn't seem like a great deal given that it probably depreciated 10k the moment it drove off the lot ... I think its a pass at that price

Ya, don't think my father is interested in this particular car due to it's "history." Although, he's still interested in the wagon.

If you want a fast wagon, this is the only game in (N.A) town ... IMO ... Audi would be another choice if we got the fast one here... I thought about one a few years ago as my dog car/DD ... but quickly came
to my senses at the logic of filling a 100k+ car with sand and dog hair ...

Love Audi wagons but the one I really want is the RS6; however, they don't bring those to the states. I'm hoping in the next few years they will. I grew up in England where wagons are pretty popular and my father actually had a early 90's Audi wagon, so it's in my blood

I drive an A4 (dogs, bikes, etc) and love wagons. I really really really wish I could buy the S4 or S6 here.

I hear you, I'm waiting to get rid of my X5 (used to have a 535xi) and going to pick up something cheap as my dog car (and the GTS Cabriolet as my DD)...
wish we could get some of the Audi/BMW wagon options available in Europe.

550i wagon ... or Audi Avant (S, RS etc)

The MY2014 to MY2016 E63 Wagon has also been on my target list as a replacement for my DD Mini Cooper JCW hatchback. The only issue I am concerned about is that MY2016 will be the last year of the W212 chassis before a whole new model is announced for MY2017!

It's a crying shame that Audi doesn't. I had a MY2003 RS6 Coupe and it was a beast. Audi currently is only bringing in the RS7 in MY2016...I believe they have stopped the RS5s as of MY2015s. They are also not bringing in the face lifted MY2016 S6 Avants to the US...claim there is not enough demand to justify. Seems surprising in both counts.

I took this photo of an RS6 Avant at the Neckarsulm Audi factory in 2013.

I worked for BMW many years ago and one of the jobs I had was preparing cars/preproduction for the press and almost every single car came back smoking. Those guys treat those cars worse than you know who in that elevator video. That was nothing compared to the atrocities I witnessed first hand. Crazy. FWIW I wouldn't buy a car that was used for press or magazines even if it only had 5k miles on it and it was half price.

I've considered an E wagon with a diesel for a dog/kid mobile but get a lot more versatility out of an SUV for towing and hunting etc. I do like wagons though...

wagon is a must for older dogs ... SUVs are way too high for them to ingress/egress w/o stressing their joints... I also think they are generally more
fun to drive than an SUV ... I personally cant wait to get rid of my X5 ... preferably by putting a couple of RPGs into that f**king worthless pice of sh*t!

whoosh ... whoosh ... incoming! ... BAM ... goodbye Spartanburg crap!

I'd love a performance wagon ... maybe even another BMW (but only if its built in Germany)

I'm so glad we're done with the X5s. Other than their Diesel engine they're terrible. After 5 BMWs in about twelve years I won't have another. My wife really liked them so we had two in a row as her car. Because of towing needs and light off-roading we need an Suv for her. We have a diesel RR on order but she's had a diesel Grand Cherokee with basically every option including air suspension and it's fantastic. Wife likes it more than the X5 by a mile, now she's not sure she wants the Rover!
