If these were the only two options I would go with the GTS; no turbo on my 911 just my preference.

I went with the TT. Love the thrust and an aftermarket exhaust can help with the sound.

When I was picking up my new car I watched them deliver a Targa 4S. I saw that targa top operate and instantly had an erection.

Barely $2k to improve your sound.

For TTS money I would rather enter the exotic market. Like a used 458 or McLaren. I don't see a Porsche segment beyond the GT cars.

Perhaps, but it's so dramatically easier to daily drive a 911 Turbo / Turbo S than a Ferrari 458 or McLaren.

Carrera 4 GTS manual! Sound, stick. 430 hp is plenty in real world driving.

If the turbo insignia floats your boat.. I seriously doubt you will ever utilize its performance DDing it.

I ended up going with the Targa. I looked at several turbos, test drove a couple but realized that even if the really, really nice turbo s that was perfectly optioned was the same price as the Targa GTS, I’d pick the Targa GTS.

The manual transmission, Targa design and possible last-of-breed engine were the things that did it for me. The turbo was great but not enough of a change to justify switching from my current 991 C2. (Somehow, I’ve justified that the Targa GTS *is* enough of a difference!)

The Targa is the car I admired as a ten-year-old and, thirty years later, it’s time to get one. According to the build schedule, mine (http://www.porsche-code.com/PGLTDP15) should be exiting the factory today!
That's a beautiful build on your Targa GTS. I love the choice of the exterior and the interior colors. Please post some pictures after it has been delivered.

I was referring to the monetary aspect of his decision. In a DDing situation the best bang for the buck is a standard 991.

I went from a 997TT in which I could not even APPROACH the capabilities of on a public road and stay out of jail to a 991C4S

I enjoy the features of the NA engine described in this thread. The 997 chassis and handling cannot compare to the 991. However, I miss the massive torque shove of the Turbo. Boost is addictive. That is why I am returning to the TT fold later this year. (991TTS)
