It's just missing too many buttons below the shifter!

It's a Lowe's/Home Depot DIY. Thought letting air through there would do something so he bolted on some mesh behind... Looks awful. If he was willing to jerry rig that then who knows how the rest of the maintenance or what shortcuts were taken.

Take your cordless drill with a hole saw to your new $110K 911? From the same mind that spec'ed a ducktail non-S, non SC, non PASM cab... But at least it's a manual!

I don't think there vents... There has to be some other (almost equally stupid) purpose to those holes.

Any efficiency gained from the venting(i'm being sarcastic) was surely lost with the 50lbs of using the largest possible bolts and not even thinking to paint them.

Must say. One of the top 3 most bizarre things I've ever seen on a 991. WTF??

I keep thinking of all the issues with this. There is something behind the mesh... so air can't get through.... but if you were going to add a mesh grill then why not make an attempt to protect the radiators? And if you can afford that car... likely you have done a google search.... or am I out of line here?

Also - why the hell use THOSE bolts???

Funny, when I downloaded the crop of the picture to post it up, I named it "wtf.jpg"

I think they are rivets, not bolts (hey, at least aluminum rivets are light!), but even the spacing on the rivets is way off... I still think it's a hack job for some type of radar or laser detector/jammer. I'd hate to see what they did to the wiring harness where they tapped in for power.

HFS extra credit class

Carrera S plenum and throttle body vs. X51 Powerkit version. Note all aluminum.

If I recall correctly, accounts for 50% of the gains alone.

Just got back home from picking it up. Sorry for the dirty pics, but the 1,000 mile trip home was a blast.

I think what we are looking at is not the construction in use by the previous owner. It probably is a quick hack after the custom stuff was removed.

Well, on the bright side I could mount my thermal sight there...

Not feeling the car overall, though.

Quadry, is that the Colorado Springs car? Looks great, congrats!

I don't suppose you took a look at the other 2013 4S they have?

STG, did you pick up the X51 intake? What are you going to do for ECU mapping?

No. Was just showing the two versions. Installed the IPD. Happy with it. Great increased intake sound in the cabin. Maybe some small minimal gains. The sound alone with BMC air filters is worth it to me.
