Default Bizarre encounter...

So I am sitting in my car at the neighborhood quick mart, where I took my wife so she could pick up a couple of things. We were there on a whim, nobody knew we were going, and my car was parked between a couple of SUVs. I'm in the car listening to some tunes, engine running, and this guy walks around the SUV on the left and starts eyeballing the front of the car, and then the side, and when he gets to my window he leans in and hands me the box in the first attached pic. As he hands it to me he says: "On behalf of Porsche Motor Cars North America, thank you for your business", pats my shoulder and walks away. I was so dumbstruck I could only say "thanks". I got it home and opened it and it contained a brand new $160 pen (second pic).

After about a week of puzzling over this and hearing every possible conspiracy theory about what was going on from my nuttier acquaintances, I've come to the conclusion that this dude somehow had this pen in his car (gift, something he bought himself, etc.), saw my car, and decided it was worth $160 to play the prank of the year on me, knowing I'd spend countless hours wondering WTF was going on.

Probably works for Porsche. Nice deed.

I thought of that, but he was driving an older, unremarkable Japanese mini-SUV, was dressed like a farmer, and I live way out in a rural area over an hour from anything Porsche related.

Weird. I got a thank you gift box set from Porsche America corporate which has a carbon fiber pen with 'targa 4S' engraved on the side, a nice little hardcover history book about Porsche, a personalized thank you letter, and couple other goodies, but nothing THAT exciting!

Maybe he bought it for $1 at a garage sale and couldn't sell it on eBay!

LOL. I had a tinfoil-hat type tell me that "they" are tracking me through the car's GPS, and that the pen probably also has a tracking device in it, and said I should "scan it in the 300MHz range."

Cool story! Now pay it forward and do the same for the next Porsche owner. Maybe the pen can travel the world.

Two words of advice:

1) never parked between two SUVs
2) and never judge a book by its cover

Now you're being a little too sentimental!!

Chuck would end up with it and NEVER let it go just like his car!
