Default 2 Year Service for a 991

I brought my car in for the 2 year service although it has less than 10K miles. How much should the service cost, including brake fluid flush?

Oil change $300ish
Brake fluid flush $250ish
Cabin pollen filters (2) $?
Engine filter is not till 40,000 miles.

That's really all. Then they charge you for some "inspections".

What's your location? That matters a little.....supply & demand & competition.

20k on our 981 in the Seattle area at a dealer last year Sept approx $650. Can't imagine a 991 (which we now own) being much different.

I cannot imagine that the whole process for the 20K plus brake fluid flush can take more than 2 hours unless they have to watch the oil drain for an hour and not do anything else while it is happening.

^^ I want to know where you get your parts from. ^^

$7.50 qt x 9 - $67.50
Oil Filter - $14
Brake Fluid - $15

$650 from a dealer is just highway robbery if you have any DIY spirit.

I'm personally going to try to DIY everything and let the dealer do the 40K services.

Best tool I've purchased in a while - Motive brake bleeder - $50

For one, a 991 does not hold 10 quarts of oil after a change. more like 8.5.

If you can do the other stuff, the 40K service just requires the removal of the rear bumper to get to the engine air filters. I bet you could do it, too. And spark plugs.

As noted on another thread, I and my friend who's worked on Porsches for 20+ years are going to do the 40K service on my car in my driveway, hopefully next weekend. The parts needed total up to $262 including shipping from Sonnen. The rear bumper removal is documented in both video and graphics available online and it just isn't that big of a deal. The $1500 or so that dealers quote for it is ridiculous.

Cool! I hope you do a write-up for the 991 Board.

Well I just picked up the car from the dealer and he did the 20K service plus the brake fluid flush but I told him not to replace the pollen filters and the total was $471.15. They did give me a Boxster loaner which I kept overnight - I will stick with a 911.

Not bad at all.

I heard the entire exhaust needs to be removed to get to the plugs. Post up some tips and tricks after you do your work and give it a beer rating of difficulty.

You can get 5 qt's containers of mobile 1 at walmart for $25.99, sometimes less when on sale. Typically mine work about to a use of about 7.5Q on the change. (probably could get another half quart out, but I change every 5K miles so I don't worry about every drop).

My genuine Porsche filter and gasket + crush washer are also about $15 (this via Sonnen)..
So the actual parts cost to the dealer is really no more than about $44.. probably less.

I fully realize the dealer has a lot of overhead costs, labor and needs to make profit. But the reason I make this point is that it drives me nuts when people say...oh mobile one is expensive and there are is a higher capacity in a 991.. That's BS.. the actual cost of the additional oil is no more than $15 more.... I'm not passing judgement on $400 oil changes.. Just that the reason is not because of the Oil or cost of the materials.

I just had my 2 yr service. 8K mikes on a C4S. They charged me around $800. I think that's a little high, but the dealership is down the street from me and gave me a cayenne loaner and the service was excellent. I guess I could have shopped around, but $150 for no hassle and great service, to me, is worth it.
They took care of a couple of campaigns too...although those were free of charge.

I have to say, although the the cayenne was a nice car, it made me appreciate my 911 a whole lot! What an awesome car the 911 is. It just blows every other car I have ever driven away. We are so lucky to be able to get in it whenever we want and drive! Justification for all that hard work!
