911 50th increase in value over time
I have a friend who bought a 50th and says he thinks it will appreciate over time. I was wondering if you guys think this is likely, since it was limited production?
Thanks

Speaking of appreciation, I really don't follow the older models and how they've done. Are there any that are still on the upswing? Flattened out, or keep dropping? Just curious. Thanks

the 50th will not appreciate over time.... It will slowly depreciate.
Even if they no longer make manual trannys and everything goes turbo or hybrid, the 50th will still depreciate.
Very nice modern 911 however. Would love to have one as my daily someday.

Don't listen to these guys. They don't know what they're talking about. Probably kicking themselves they didn't get a 50. Keep yours in good shape, not perfect like new but close, and it will definitely appreciate over time. About 50 years of time. But, who knows? Maybe only 40!

Well, it is unique in spec (wide bodied C2S), so whilst there are many, many standard C2S models about in the used market, there won't be many 50th about so that will therefore attract a premium as it is more special.
Not too much a concern for me as I will be keeping mine

That all depends who you ask - those who don't own one (but want one - why else would they look into a 50th thread) and those that own one.
For the record if you wanted one right now in UK you couldn't find a single one for sale in any Porsche dealership across the entire country - guess those that have one are not interested in selling and that will reflect in the used prices.

I really doubt they will increase in value. Only cars that seem to be increasing are the GT3RS/ 4.0/ 993 TT or widebodies/ 964 turbo/ 73RS etc. All manual cars. Plus the modern ones that are increasing (GT3RS) are high MSRP and low mileage garage queens. So if you want to buy a 50th and not drive it and wait 30 years maybe. But if you aren't going to drive it - whats the point. Its not an investment period. There are far better investment opportunities than a 50th anni that you don't drive.
There's one FS on rennlist now that's several thousand under MSRP and it hasn't sold.
Its a great car - not a great investment.

had they not built a 991 GT3, the 50TH in a manual might have had a chance in time... but alas, once the warranty is gone and the next greatest 911 is in production the 50th will be just another used 991... (a nice one however)
The 991GT3 may also follow suit in no appreciation... but only time will tell.
