Price wise - For reference, what are others paying (installed) for either/or P-Zero or Michelins?

Purchase & install for me is at a Discount Tire. They have the latest mounting & balancing equip.

My super sports are just awesome. Grip, ride and the lack of road noise exceed the Pirelli. Wear..time will tell.

How are the tire prices at Porsche dealers? Are they competitive at all?

I had to have all 4 rims on my RS4 repaired and repainted after a non-dealer used a screw-driver to take off the lug caps. They left gouges on the lips of all the lug wells from the screw-driver shaft. They also took a big chunk out of one rim with the machine. They fully covered the repair cost, but what a pain to deal with. I had the Audi dealer get an independent to fix them while my car was in for service. From that experience I am scared to go non-dealer. I am guessing their turn-over rate is fairly high for experienced techs at some of the major tire centers. I previously had good luck with the shop mentioned above.

Here's the key. Porsche North American's tire distributor is The Tire Rack. So, for smart shoppers most dealerships will price match TRs pricing.

Problem is, the dealerships whack us on labor.

My solution. I buy my tires from TR. Load the wheels up in my SUV. Drive the 90 miles to Southbend Indiana and have them expertly installed for $15 per tire.

I just ship them to my dealer. Yep, it costs more, but at $1500 a rim, I know if they mess one up, there's no argument. Good luck with your local tire shop. Cost me about $75 more than using the local flunkys.

My dealer matches the cheapest price I can get elsewhere, $20, so I just bring my wheels into them. I trust them not to screw them up.

I bought a set of MPSS for my 997.1 S (235 F and 305 R) with a full road hazard warrantee at COSTCO for under $1600. They were mounted by a trained Michelin specialist (installation included in the price). I shopped several alternatives and no one was even close. The only issue was that my car came from the factory with the optional lightweight sport wheels using 305s in the rear. COSTCO's system only showed 295s as applicable so they would not sell me the 305s. It took some calls to Michelin for COSTCO to agree on the 305s. After that they were ordered and mounted in about a week.
