agreed I think its different for people of different backgrounds; coming from the UK and living in the US I have never got used to the 'red' indicators on a lot of US cars since they are orange on UK/EU cars...

I just dont think a 'big blob of red' on the back of a (non red) car works, it shatters the lines of the car ... its subjective as with many such things

Yep for sure. And unlike the manual/PDK thread I won't trot out 36 reasons why you are wrong and I'm right.

Thanks for the links to the ad copy. Er, I mean "reviews"! It was nice of the Telegraph to remind us of the GTS's roots in the 904:

"The term ‘GTS’ was born 50 years ago, and it belonged to the 904, a tiny jewel of a racing car which, despite diminutive proportions and a modest 2.0-litre engine, took Porsche’s reputation for giant slaying to a whole new level. Not only did it win its class almost everywhere it went, it also won the fabled Targa Florio outright."

A few other good ones:

"GTS is no longer a name applied only to highly specialised creations designed for Porsche’s most discerning customers, it is just another model in the range."

"the GTS uses a slightly modified version of the seven-speed manual, which now has a lighter, more positive shift that will soon be rolled out onto all 911s" (What Car?)

"the GTS; it's cheaper than a Carrera S with the equivalent performance upgrades"

Is this inaccurate?

who knows, but if they have changed the 7MT design I see no reason why they would not share it with other variants...

I have to admit, if it wasn't for my wife not being able to drive a manual, I would not be speccing PDK

Larry, I was in the same boat when we bought the Cayman. Wife loved the car but couldn't drive stick. We drove the Tiptronic and thought it was very good, but just couldn't do it. Took her for a ride in the old 911 for about 20 minutes and she said she thought she could do it. I told her the new MTs were no where near as hard as the old ones. We pulled the trigger on the Cayman with a MT.

Turns out she absolutely loves it. Her only fear was being on a hill but luckily we didn't run into that much in Florida so she had time to figure it out. Now with the Hill Hold on the new MTs, it's not even an issue.

When we started considering a new 911, I told her about the new PDKs and she wouldn't hear of it...manual only.

No clutches were harmed in the telling of this story.

Default 7MT in GTS

I am hoping that these changes to the MT are for the better. I tried the 7MT and PDK on extended overnight test drives to make sure that I was not going to regret ordering the PDK. Always been a manual driver, but wanted to try both. For myself, I can't saay that I have tried a MT that is as good as what I tried in the 2014 Carrera S that the dealer let me try. I am hoping that the changes for the GTS is not going to change it significantly.

On another note, for anyone that has been to the LA Auto Show, are you ever allowed to sit in the vehicles?

Eagerly waiting on my GT silver C4-GTS on espresso/cognac!
