Default Porsche 911 Carrera GTS first drive

Looks like the press have finally gotten access to the 991 GTS... very promising first drive review and I'm sure we'll see more reviews soon enough. They got the model year wrong though...

this is interesting, not mentioned by Porsche:

"And for fans of traditional manual gearboxes, the standard seven-speeder has been entirely reworked, resulting in swifter, smoother and sharper shifts."

+1 also "sounds" as though the steering and suspension may also have been tweaked/tuned

The one caveat I would add is the source of the article, not sure if The Telegraph is considered to be a foremost source of car reviews...

I'm surprised that they published 1st. But it sounds as though he attended a bigger press event so I anticipate more reviews to appear in Evo, Total911 etc in the next couple of months... fingers crossed.

I'm looking fwd to hearing other reviews ... I'm confused as to why the cabriolet sucks so badly

Yeah, my thinking is the press event is on this week (in advance of the LA Autoshow) and they put up their article asap. The pics are definitely new including the last one with California plates.

I wouldn't read too much into the review on the cab either, seems odd to me...

Andrew Frankel is a respected motoring journalist in the UK.

I wonder if his issue with the GTS Cab is the fact that it is 4WD ..

sounded like it was the cabriolet+PDK that he might have disliked ... I guess it is a compromise ... but not that much of one surely that it warrants simply eschewing it for a 2/4S Cabriolet?

We will have to wait and see what other journos say ...

I'm going down a week tomorrow to see them in the flesh ... look out for a picture thread posting on the 21st/22nd.
